The City of Los Gatos was established on October 1, 1912 by an act of the State Legislature as a result of an effort to consolidate several small villages near Stanford University. In 1916, a post office was established and mail service began from Los Gatos to Menlo Park on March 3rd. By 1920 there were 20 businesses in town with a population of 100+. In 1922 when the Santa Clara Valley Authority was created it included all of Palo Alto except for Los Gatos which became part of its jurisdiction only six months later on January 1st 1923 In 1925 a new water tower and pumping station were built east of downtown (now known as Waterfront Park). This location made it possible for residents to get water without having to go far away and gave rise to the name "Waterfront Park" because practically everyone who lived near it got their water from this source. In 1927 they started construction on what would become known as "The Lakeside Project", which would enlarge El Camino Real Road between downtown Los Gatos and Lake Bonney into four lanes wide with a median separating them (this project never came to fruition) In 1935 they developed what is now called Warner Bros.'s lot adjacent to Interstate 580 just south of Highway 280 across from Santa Clara University's Campus Center From 1936 until 1984 these lots were used by Lockheed Martin Aircraft Corporation for their research facilities . In 1984 they bought out Lockheed Martin's interest in these lands which resulted in them being turned into Warner Bros.' lot today

The city also experienced some economic prosperity thanks to numerous businesses moving into town during this time including Ford Motors Corporation (now known as Ford Motor Company), Kaiser Aluminum Works and Raytheon Missile Systems Division among others. However, following World War II there was significant decline in both business activity and population populations throughout much of California due in large part to inflationary pressures brought about by war-related economies which caused prices to skyrocket while jobs dried up or disappeared entirely within a given geographic region/community*.
