By 1880, there were more than 100 businesses operating inside the boundaries of Los Gatos village alone. In 1924, Southern Pacific Railroad began services through Los Gatos Airport which increased traffic throughout the community; today it remains one of America’s most important aviation hubs with over 2 million passengers annually passing through its doors. After World War II ended, many technological advancements took place within California such as television sets being developed here (the earliest being demonstrated by William Farnum), computers becoming available for purchase (Atanasoff–Newman computer),and major earthquake damage across much of North America occurring (Los Angeles Earthquake).
