In 1912, Winchester Manufacturing Company moved its operations from Hartford, Connecticut to Los Angeles after purchasing Browning Arms Company (BAR). At this time, LAS had become one of the most important arms markets in the world due to its location between Southern California and Mexico City where a large amount of handgun ammunition was produced. In 1916, Winchester moved their entire manufacturing operation back to Hartford afterHenry Repeating Arms Co purchased BAR from Winchester. This caused an even larger increase in ammo production as Henry Repeating Arms became one of America's leading producers of firearms accessories including reloading supplies. In 1922, Harry Henschel & Son merged with Remington Rand Incorporated forming Remington Rand Corporation which continued to produce firearms accessories until it ceased operations in 1971 due to deregulation of American industry.
