Los Altos, California is an incorporated city in Alameda County, California. The population was 17,825 at the 2010 census. Los Altos is a small city located in the central San Mateo County, California. It is part of the San Francisco Bay Area and has a population of about 95,000 as of 2010. The name "Los Altos" means "uppermost." According to the United States Census Bureau, Los Altos had a total area of 2.6 square miles (6.1 km²), all land.
