The 20th century was not kind to Wabash Industries Ltd., however; it went through several ownership changes until 1998 when it was sold to billionaire Stanley Druckenmiller Jr.. Druckenmiller would later merge Wabash Industries with United States Steel Corporation creating perhaps Silicon Valley's most powerful corporation ever (and making him worth an estimated $30 billion). In recent years Los Altos has seen significant economic redevelopment; both downtown Los Angeles and South Park have been rebuilt following fire damage done during the 2011 earthquake. However much like much of Northern California's southern edge where hills once ringed townsites with foothills behind them now stand aloneendonored lots among subdivisions of more modest homes there has been little change at ground level since those days...
