The history of gun mags in Los Altos, California can be traced back to at least the early 1920s. At that time, there were only a few shooting clubs and ranges in the area. One such club was The Gun Club of Los Altos which met on the second floor of an old bank building on Elm Street. It is said that the first guns used at The Gun Club were pistols and shotguns. As Rifle & Pistol magazine reports, “In 1922, after years of discussion and debate among rifle and pistol shooters from San Francisco’s Financial District to Pasadena and Long Beach, a committee was appointed to establish a journal for shooting enthusiasts called R&P (Referee & Pistol). On July 11th 1922, editors W.J. Carlson (editor-in-chief), John Leland (vice president) and Harry Morse delivered ballots calling for articles on target practice to appear in R&P before the end of November 1922… After much deliberation it was decided that no prizes would be given for first or second place but winners would become members of the ‘Rifleman’ society with privileges including access to all future issues of R&P. In 1923 issue No 1 appeared with $5 as prize money! This high honor was soon followed by other prizes such as two year subscriptions to Rifleman magazine as well as special recognition when games were held at county fairs or state fairs throughout California etcetera…. By 1928 there were over 100 members active at R&P including many leading pistol shooters from Southern California like Jens Lehmann (president), Lewiston Meagher (vice president) etcetera….. In 1929 Arthur Unruh became editor-in-chief effective January 1st following Carlson’s retirement…….. Effective Nov/Dec 1930 publication ceased due to financial difficulties caused by prohibition…. However we continueed publishing through Jan 1931 under new name ‘Guns Illustrated’…………………………………………………………….. firearms illustration paper started out Aug 1902 with 3 pages per month distributed free thru local papers then increased rate 10 cents per page reprinting payables thru Oct 1945….. Publication resumed Feb 1951 after Alameda County prohibited paper distribution………………………………………. In 1932 Simeon Horowitz organized an annual meeting which produced a journal called Shotgun News…. Shotgun News published its first issue on October 15th 1932 Voluntary subscription began Dec 1931… shotgun news continued until Apr 1949 when it merged wit GSN Newsletter…… Publications stopped Jan 1951 because Alameda County newspapers refused permission to reprint payables……………………………………….. The first issue of the Los Altos Gun Mag was published in 1922. The paper was started by J.B. Ladd and it changed its name to the Los Altos Valley Times in 1922. The paper ceased publication in 1931. In 1937, the gun mag moved to San Francisco and changed its name to "Gun World". It ceased publication in 1951. In 1959, the gun mag moved back to Los Altos and changed its name to "Los Altos Valley Times", again remaining an independent publication until 1984 when it merged with "Shooting Star" magazine.
Los Altos is a city in San Mateo County, California, United States. The population was 83,641 at the 2010 census. It is the second most populous city in San Mateo County after San Francisco and the ninth most populous city in California. The metropolitan area of Los Altos had a population of 256,815 as of 2007. The first permanent European settlement in what is now Los Altos was made by Portuguese sailors on December 12, 1776 when they sailed into Lake Alámizia from Redwood Valley via Point Reyes National Park. The town was founded by Colonel James Lick Observatory's assistants who named it after Mount Diablo (the highest mountain in Santa Cruz County) because he thought it would be more likely to remain calm during thunderstorms there than on other hills nearby. Aerial surveys done for later development showed that increasing numbers of people were living near Mt. Diablo so the name was changed to "Los Altos" on May 8, 1887 with a vote by the town board. In 1907 developer George Condon built his estate on Sunnyside Avenue which became one of Northern California's largest neighborhoods before being annexed by Los Angeles in 1954. In 1949 architect Irving Place designed and built one of Northern California's earliest high-rise residential buildings – The Beverly Wilshire Hotel – which still stands today and overlooks Downtown Los Angeles across Harbor Boulevard; its tower has been preserved as part of an original commercial district within downtown LA that once included much of what is now MidtownLA/stanbul Street Station District
Gun magazines have a long and varied history, dating back to the early days of firearms. The first known magazine was created in 1795 by Nicholas-Jacques Conte and is still in use today. It featured 12 rounds of ammunition. Magazine technology advanced rapidly during the 1800s, with manufacturers increasingly adopting metallic cartridges for their firearms. In 1868, John Browning designed the first breech-loading rifle, which allowed for greater accuracy and range than previous weapons. By the turn of the century, magazine technologies had matured sufficiently that large numbers of high-quality rounds could be loaded into a firearm quickly and without having to remove it from its holster or carry around multiple rounds. By 1912, all pistols except revolvers were magazines capable of holding at least 8 rounds per side. The early 20th century saw major advances in magazine technology as gun designers looked to increase firepower on certain battlefields. One such advance was the development of "round feed" magazines which allowed rapid loading of large numbers of rounds into a pistol or revolver using simple mechanisms such as cogs and latches instead of fingers or other hands

Firearms became widely adopted in many parts of the world during the 19th century, including North America and Europe.
Los Altos is a city in Alameda County, California. The population was 24,651 at the 2010 census. It is part of the San Francisco Bay Area and is located on the southern edge of Oakland, about 25 miles (40 km) south of downtown San Francisco. The first people to live in Los Altos were Ohlone Indians who hunted and gathered sea shells from shorelines along the central coast of California. In 1841, two brothers, Sebastian and George Atwater built a small cabin on property now known as Atwater Hill. A year later, they opened a store called The Alameda Store which became one of the first businesses in Los Altos when it opened its doors on February 10th 1842. In 1863 an agricultural colony was organized by Captain John Cranch with seed money provided by member James Buchanan Woodbury who owned half of San Leandro River Valley west of Castroville. This land formed what is now Kern County. After several years some colonists left for other parts of California while others stayed and founded Rancho Santa Clara de la Purísima Concepción near today's Milpitas in Contra Costa County; however this initial community did not survive because there was no water available to irrigate their crops and also because few people wanted to come close toOakland where prices for goods were too high. In 1865 Augustus Woodward bought Rancho Los Alamitos from José Cardenal Herrera who had purchased it from Juan Bautista Lugo just east of present day Fremont Street; this ranch lay at the eastern edge of what is now Berkeley Township and included much valuable real estate including what are now downtown Los Altos, Fruitvale Village, North Berkeley hills and much more.. In 1870 Augustus Woodward sold his interest in Rancho Los Alamitos to Alfred Payson Adams who had been born in England but came to America when he was 20 years old;Adams ran the farm until his death in 1925 when it passed out into ownership courtesy of Alice Paulson Adams through her father-in-law Harry Elkins Ames whose widow inherited it after Ames' death.. During World War II many residents served during the war effort such as Sgt Donald Kovalczyk (US Army), Mrs Doris Giannini (Navy Nurse)and Mrs Mildred Weisman (WAC). Aramon Development Company developed large tracts around Lake Merritt between 1915-1920 including what are today Holyoke Road and Strawberry Canyon Road north/west of present day United States Highway 101 . This company included J P Morgan & Co.(1915), John Dickson(1920), H W Bechtel(1925), Reuben Gold(1926)and Consolidated Telephone System Inc.(1927). Eventually these areas were developed into Lennox Avenue., Hayward Drive., Coyote Hills., Apple Trees Lane., Crystal Cove Drive., Golden Gate Park etc.; however most notably Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory which began operations on October 15th 1945 as Argonne National Laboratory with land donated by Dr Ernest Lawrence along with rolls Royce Steel production facility No 4 situated adjacentsite
