On January 1st 1938 Mayor John Waddell dedicated one block east of Second Street between Elm and Laurel Streets to commemorate all those killed or seriously injured during World War II; this area still bears memorials from that time including palm trees and large bronze WWII Memorial plaques through out town. On July 15th 1955 Mayor Harry Anderson dedicated another block east of Second Street between Elm and Laurel Streets to honor all those who have died since 1951 when City Limits were set up including construction workers Killed during Construction Project along I-280 / US 101: plaque located at intersection 2nd & Katella streets honoring worker/ fathers/ sons killed while working on project
