Los Alamitos is a city in Los Angeles County, California. The population was 161,604 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Los Angeles County and forms part of the Greater Los Angeles Area. The name comes from two places: the artificial hills in downtown that were used to produce plutonium for nuclear weapons development and also from the Spanish words "los alamitos," meaning "the cliffs." The first Europeans to visit what is now Los Angeles County were sailing along California's coast as early as 1769, when Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo sighted land on Nov. 14, 1771 while traveling near San Diego. On July 4, 1776, Gaspar de Portolà and his men explored what is now Downtown LA; they called it Nueva Vizcaya (New Valencia). A year later, on Aug. 24, 1777, Felipe de Neve discovered an estuary leading into Pasadena River and named it Rancho Pasadena after Prince Antonio Solís y Gómez who hadOWNED IT in 1774. The grant was confirmed by King George II with a letter dated Feb. 10, 1780. In 1819 Manuel Nieto bought portions of Rancho La Fe from José Maria De Jesús Roca for $10 000 because he was concerned about gold prospecting being done nearby by Mexican settlers surnamed Pico and Vallejo who were buying up large tracts of land east of Pomona Mesa to build homes on their properties during this time period known as Anglo-Mexican settlement or just Plains Settlement because no one ever built anything on top of those ancient ruins! In 1848 Agustín Castro purchased Rancho La Puente from José Joaquín Cámpora which included much of today's Westwood neighborhood including Chavez Ravine Park which still remains largely undeveloped despite numerous proposals tobuilt apartments there over the years! When Mexico achieved itsindependence in 1846 many people left their homes in Guerrero Province for Mexico City due to political instability followingunaltered Spain's annexation of that territory! Many returned home once Mexican independence was recognized but many more lived in Mexico City until World War II when most refugees relocated back northward into California due to war hysteria!! On Sept 20th 1959 Agustín Castro died suddenly after a long illness at age 87 leaving behind his wife María del Carmen Menéndez Uribe who became interim president while Garcia served out her full term! On Oct 3rd 1960 María del Carmen Menéndez Uribe filed for divorce resulting in her becoming president pro tempore!!! This event ledto Proposition 209 being passedgrammatically void priorto her inauguration effective Jan 1st 1961!!! She orderdly resigned effective Jan 5th 1961 due primarily to internal disagreements within her own party over how she should handle upcoming national elections!!!! Her replacement Eduardo Elis Zeddel became president effective Jan 26th 1961 thru Feb 5th 1962!!!!! After serving only 31 days he resignedeffective March 8th 1962due to health problems related thereto!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After serving three months as interim president Agustín Castro's brother-in-law Ramón Castilla became actingpresident effective April 6th 1962until June 12th 1962 when he too resignation effective because he had developed lung cancer !! On Dec 16th 1962 Jorge Altuve Becerra was elected mayor replacing Ramón Castilla!!!!! After serving only eight monthsBecerra resignedeffective Feb 25th 1963 due mainly theretofore undisclosed financial improprieties !! Enrique Peña Nieto took officeon March 2nd 2003 thru May 30Th 2003 with a mandate To clean up LASALAMITOS including making it more environmentally friendly !!!! There have been multiple reelections throughout this time frame but no new mayor has been elected since December 15 th 2002 ???

Austin came to what is now Los Alamitos to meet with Houston about ending the siege. They found a natural reservoir where they could build their weapons without having to worry about water availability or enemy fire; this location became known as "The Arsenal." In 1919, scientists working for JPL founded the Laboratory for Aeronautics Research (later renamed JPL), which developed early warning systems for Air Force bombers and helped develop radar technology before World War II. After World War II ended, JPL turned its attention to space exploration with its launch facility on July 20th of that year – becoming one of only a few centers in the world to produce operational satellites using ballistic missiles
Los Alamitos was founded by George Washington in 1795 as a small community on the San Gabriel Mountains. It quickly became one of the most important military and civilian communities in Southern California. In 1846, Los Alamitos became part of the newly formed United States of America following its victory in the Mexican-American War. The town continued to grow rapidly during the late 1800s and early 1900s, thanks to new technology and industry development. In 1925, Los Alamitos was renamed after General Leslie Groves, who played an instrumental role in developing American nuclear weapons.
