In the early 1900s, Long Beach was a small town on the Pacific coast of California. The population was about 50 people and the only means of transportation was horse-drawn carriages. There were no trains or buses in those days. In 1910, an entrepreneur named Henry S. Plummer started a manufacturing company in Long Beach that made drinking cups and other products for local businesses. In 1915, he founded the First National Bank of Long Beach with his brother-in-law Frank Hirschfield. The bank became one of the largest banks in California and did business with every major city in the state. In 1922, Harry Chandler bought majority ownership of Plummer's company and changed its name to Plummer & Chandler Corporation. In 1929, Harry Chandler died and his son Sam took over as president of Plummer & Chandler Corporation. In 1940, Sam Plummer married Lillian Wolkoff and they began to run the company as a family firm. They continued to produce products until their deaths in 1965 and 1987 respectively
Long Beach, California is a city in Orange County, California. The population was 134,651 at the 2010 census. The first people to live here were Native Americans who hunted and fished in the area now known as Long Beach. Scope mounts are a type of mount that provide an adjustable, cantilevered arm to hold a rifle or shotgun in place. The earliest scopes were designed for use with rifles and shotguns that had stocks that could be rotated. These early scopes were typically mounted on the top of the stock, but more recently they have been mounting on either side of the gun barrel. The first scope mounts came about in the late 1800s when European military snipers began using long-range rifles and shotguns in combat.
