In 1934, handgun designer John Moses Browning patented his first handgun design known as the Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR). This rifle featured an automatic magazine feeding system that allowed users to fire multiple rounds without having to reload each time. These pistols were made with British-made revolver barrels which shortened greatly for use in Europe as opposed to traditional rifle barrels which gave greater firepower when used single-handedly or against large groups at close range. In 1915, AAC merged with Remington Arms Company and all Colt products ceased production across all brands within Remington Arms Company however many remain extant today including the LEAP Rifle which is still manufactured by Browning Firearms Corporation

Long Beach is a city in California, United States. The population was 66,763 at the 2010 census. It is located on the southern coast of Long Island. The city site has been inhabited by Native Americans for over 12,000 years and was first taxable in 1854. The area now known as Long Beach was formed from part of Rancho Niguel land that had been purchased by August Miller from Mexican landowners in 1848. In 1863, the U.S. Army constructed Fort Ross to guard against Japanese attack during the Sino-Japanese War; it was abandoned in 1865 and long since demolished. In 1887, James Irvine built a wharf on what is now Doheny Boulevard to serve as a base for his new citrus orchards and shipping warehouse complex known as Irvine Park (nowFullerton). The extension of Doheny Boulevard eastward led to its current name: "Long Beach". During World War II, Long Beach became one of many American cities located along the Pacific Coast that were bombed without 48-hour notice or warning due to the Japanese military's belief that Los Angeles would be next if they failed to defeat America's allies at Pearl Harbor. Spanish settlers arrived in Long Beach beginning around 1795 and by 1847 there were about 175 Anglo-Spanish families living there with an accompanying Indian workforce engaged in ranching, fishing, farming and trade with Native Americans such as the Mission Indians who called themselves Ohlone

By 1865, there were over 1,000 people living in what is now Long Beach. The first post office opened in 1872. The region became part of Los Angeles County when it was created from portions of Orange County by an act of Congress on February 7, 1880.
