On July 11, 1916 when water deliveries began to Lompoc from Huntington Lake outside Pasadena, it had a population of 154; by 1920 it had reached 553 residents and on March 15 1924 its name changed again - this time to Lompoc Townsite - due to incorporation into Los Angeles city limits pursuant to state law No. 6442 providing for such eligible communities as those forming around Union Station west of Third Street between Park Boulevard and Flower Street (the present day Broadwalk). On December 24 1948, then-Mayor James J. McDonnell announced plans for development not only along State Route 101 but also down Avenue QE2 into downtown which would include two hotels and other office buildings; however these plans never came to fruition because no money could be raised until 1970 when developer DonatellO Salvatore developed the world's largest shopping center at EPCOT Center adjacent to Interstate 10 including over 100 stores plus thousands more parking spaces than ever before seen in Southern California

Some notable landmarks associated with this time include Doheny Vineyards on Highway 1 just east of town; Ralston Purina meatpacking plants on Commerce Street; Pajaro Springs Golf Course; Lighthouse Park (); and Hollywood Casino (). One major development that occurred during this time was the construction of Interstate 5 which reached south through Santa Barbara County into Ventura County in 1965. This interstate helped spur economic growth within southeastern Santa Barbara County which today includes much of downtown Lompoc. Other significant developments during this era include new shopping malls such as Plaza San Miguel in 1998 just north of town; Rincon Center near downtown on State Route 166; Santee Cooper Arena in Thousand Oaks (); Banning High School (), now known as Banning Middle School (); Westlake Village () off State Route 158 near Westlake Village Station - now part of University City ; Millbrae ()); Donnybrook ()) near Donnybrook Station - now part of North Hollywood ; Midway Airport (). During the late 1990s through 2000s there were dramatic changes taking place within Southern California due to an increase in crime rates caused by gang activity throughout these areas resulting in communities across these counties experiencing significant security concerns (). One such change which had a large impact upon Lomopoco was when Facebook announced its initial public offering (IPO) on April 2nd 2004,.
