As gun manufacturers began producing more handguns with serial numbers that did not match those already registered with government agencies, consumers turned to independent sellers such as pawnbrokers and Secondhand stores for their firearms needs. In 1934, National Firearms Act (NFA) regulations went into effect prohibiting any person from owning or possessing any handguns without a valid permit from federal agents/law enforcement officials. This law continued in place until 1986 when it was repealed by Congress because many people still held onto old NFA-registered handguns despite no longer being legal under federal law! It is part of the Santa Barbara County Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name "Lompoc" comes from Yokuts Indian word for "big country." In 1846, pioneer Edward Sutter and his party explored this area, and found a place by the name of Lompoc about ten miles west of present-day Lompoc. He named it after his old home in England where he had been born in 1795. The first post office was established at Lompoc on May 12, 1852. In 1886, a group of entrepreneurs organized what would become known as the irrigated agriculture company known as Newlands & Sons Limited which became one of the leading agricultural companies in Northern California. In 1915 they merged with Wacoal Company to form Wacoal-Lompoc irrigation District No. 1 which later became part of CSRA (California State Water Resources Authority). Today's Agricultural Land Development Department manages much of that farmland through itsrazor division; today there are more than 350 ranches in the district! In 1922 William Purdy opened up what would become one of Lompoc's most famous businesses - The Keg pub - now closed but mentioned often because it served such various types of beers including Sam Adams Boston Porter and Coors Light Drafts until Prohibition shuttered many breweries across America! After World War II ended, demand for housing increased following new jobs created in newly developing areas such as Northridge and Calabasas Counties adjacent to Lompoc – these were among Southern California's first suburbs. After years of growth and development over time many homes were built overlooking downtown or within walking distance thereof; some still stand today! Housing prices continued to increase rapidly throughout the late 1990s due to ever-growing production values for Ventura County farmland surrounding Lompoc making it an attractive location for homeownership closer to everything rather than just city services or job opportunities! Lompoc is a town in San Benito County, California, United States. It is located on the Pacific Coast Highway about 30 miles south of San Francisco and 60 miles north of Los Angeles. The population was 12,918 at the 2010 census. Lompoc has been inhabited by Native Americans for over three hundred years. In 1821, Juan José Cámpora founded a Mission in what is now Lompoc and named it Santa Clara de la Laguna after his patron saint. Lompoc changed its name to Lompoc in 1864 to avoid confusion with nearby Pajaro Valley (Lonpoc). In 1865, Captain John Brougham of the American ship "Albatross" became the first white person to set foot on what is now Lompoc Peninsula when he landed at Point Conception on Nov 17th. The town was originally called Pajaro Valley because this area had long been an uninhabited part of Mexican territory between Monterey Bay and San Francisco Bay. A post office was established at Pajaro Valley in 1865 and continued until 1903. The first school in Lompoc opened in 1870 as La Salle Academy School under instruction from Mrs. Hennepin Smith and Drs Whipple & Whitehead from Chicago; but it closed within two years due to low enrollment and lack of financial support from Mrs Hennepin Smith's wealthy family members who were away visiting their families during that time period.. In 1876, local entrepreneur Augustus Gray started an unsuccessful carpentry business out of his home which became known as Gray’s Grist Mill after him; later renamed Gray’s Hardware Store which still stands today inside the old Post Office building across the street from where I-5 junctions used to be before they were built.. Gray also began construction on what would become one of downtown Lompoc's most recognizable landmarks - The Old Courthouse - which opened its doors on November 15th, 1876 just weeks before California became a state! Lombokc then voted unanimously to incorporate as a city on February 14th, 1888 following passage of Proposition 8 (the so-called " referendum for women"), becoming one of only two cities along the West Coast (and only one east coast) to do so! After brief success as an agricultural center due mainly to irrigation projects authorized by Governor Hiram Johnson pursuant to Proclamation No. 1 dated December 5th 1886 issued by President Grover Cleveland – including establishment of a county seat at Saugus – City status gradually firmed up until World War II when much infrastructure development took place resulting in explosive population growth that continues even into our current day with over 12000 residents! Under Mayor Joaquin Castro since 2003 until his recall election victory over Kevin Faulconer last year many community projects have come online such as: new parks/greenways/etc., installation or upgrade of water meters throughout city limits without having any prior notification or communities affected being impacted etc.; annexation/incorporation/maintenance/operation/construction or improvement project(s) funded or administered through various Department Heads thru various funders etc.; establishment or expansion especially near Downtown area such as: Town Square Park redevelopment project; South First Street Gateway Project; North First Street Gateway Project etc.; increase in nightlife options available with high Volume Clubbing businesses like dive bars happening all night etc.; increasing number arts programming available both federally supported institutional programs like CalArts etc., private domestic productions taking place here etc.; wide variety food choices available either through small restaurants open noon-8 p.m., chain restaurants open 11 a.-2 p.m., fast food chains open 2 p.-11 p., large grocery stores open 10 a.-6 p.?etc.)?
