Loma Linda University’s Department of Firearms and Ammunition has been providing safe storage for firearms since the early 1940s. Loma Linda University is one of the first universities in California to offer degrees in firearms management and safety. In 1969, we started our own shooting range, which has remained a popular tourist attraction ever since. Today, we have an extensive collection of handguns, rifles, shotguns and ammunition. Loma Linda is a small city located in the Inland Empire of California, about an hour and a half north of Los Angeles. Situated on the east bank of the San Gabriel River, it straddles what was once an agricultural area that now includes much of downtown Loma Linda and portions of Agoura Hills and Calabasas. The name "Loma Linda" comes from the Indian word ʻalamala, meaning summit or topmost peak. The first permanent settlement in what is now Loma Linda was made by Father Francisco J. Malvarado in 1824 as part of Rancho Santa Margarita de las Pulgas (now part of Ventura County). The town's first post office was established in 1827. By 1850, most residents had left to make way for new settlements around Loma Linda and Pasadena. However, sporadic settler activity continued until 1864 when General Alvarados ordered Major Doniphan to open up land at present-day Downtown Loma Linda for military purposes only. In 1870, President Grant offered Mr. Jameson a tract of land east of Pasadena on which he built his home calledJameson House after himself – one of six such offers given during his seven-year terms as president. Jameson took the offer and donated $1 million to establish the University of Southern California (USC) campus at what is now Downtown Loma Linda in 1911; this donation helped finance USC's construction boom at that time across Southern California: from Los Angeles to Pasadena to Orange County. Today, with over 20 000 students enrolled at UCLAincluding nearly 3000 students from LomAinda itselfthe community has come to symbolize two halves of one large university: older students who call it their " stomping ground", while younger ones live just outside its boundaries near South El Monte Boulevard and North Hollywood Boulevard respectively – all within easy reachof campuses including USC and UCLA! The city's rich history goes well beyond its namesake institution however - there are numerous buildings dating back more than 100 years still standing today including three banks which have been preserved as cultural icons: First National Bank (1875), Citizens National Bank (1910), and Farmers Trust Company (1939). These venerable institutions continue to serve their local communities through their branches hereabouts; lending money along with other services like online banking since 1955! During World War II, many people living in Downtown Lomas Lakeie came out into support the war effort through various activities like serving food parcels or working odd jobs for civilians inside the city limits; some even went on leave from their jobs altogether so they could join military units stationed nearby such as Camp Roberts northeast of town where troops were being trained for Operation Dragoon . Some notable citizens who served our country during World War II include Harry Emerson Fitch who became governor later that year; Arturo Frondizi who served as Dictator Pro Tempore for two months before being impeached by Congress later that year; Don Bolles whose company developed radar equipment used by USAAF during WWII;and Jay Cooke whose companies manufactures radios popular among American servicemen abroad during those times
