In addition to its municipal form of government and zoning regulations that are unique to each town or village within San Bernardino County, Loma Linda has also adopted a "two-tier" system for governance with elected officials at both a local and national level who share responsibility for various areas including fire safety and development planning; street maintenance; libraries; parks and recreation; housing developments; health care services; education opportunities for residents through adult daycare centers (ADCs), elementary/junior high schools (EJHS), community colleges/university-affiliated programs (CCUs), vocational training schools/universities (VTSs), etc.; all while maintaining total control over public funds used by these elected officials except certain communications services such as police officers and ambulance service that are contracted out to outside providers under contracts set forth by law. This creates a model where citizens have direct control over some aspects of their lives while still having ultimate decision-making authority over other areas such as fire safety or library funding elections which take place every five years with ramifications for all citizens regardless of political affiliation

Today the downtown core of Loma Linda is home to a variety of businesses as well as numerous cultural events each year including the annual Christmas parade which takes place December 6th through 12th.
