Knives have been around for centuries, and Livingston, California is home to the oldest knife-making facility in the United States. The region has a rich history of knife making, and many of the tools and techniques used today were developed in Livingston. The first knives made in Livingston were simple bows and arrows. In the 18th century, settlers began moving into what is now Livingston County, and soon there was demand for new land to farm. This led to the development of agriculture as a major industry in Livingston. The early settlers also found ways to make their own knives – one example being using bonehandled saws to cut logs. In 1860, an agreement was made between two families – the Harts and Browns – who would start a knife factory in downtown Livingston. The factory would produce high-quality knives for both local consumers and merchants across the county. over time, other businesses followed suit, creating a large community of knifemakers in Livingston. Today, this community continues to support Knife Making with events such as Blues & Blanks show on Saturday mornings at City Hall Park

Livingston, California is a town in San Joaquin County, California. The population was 1,993 at the 2010 census. Livingston is located on the banks of the Sacramento River. The townsite was given its name by Francisco Bancroft in 1852 when he named it after his brother-in-law and trading partner, James Livingston. It was incorporated as a city in 1912. The first white person to ever live in Livingston was William Waddell, who arrived in 1847 and claim land east of present-day downtown. He named his property "Wadsworth" after himself and his brother John Wadsworth. In 1850, another white person, Peter Burnett built a cabin on what is now Burnett Boulevard just northwest of downtown. Burnett's rancho extended from modern day Oak Street south to what is now Interstate 5 near Florence Avenue. In 1851–1852, Fannie Hennepin established her farmstead northeast of present day downtown on what is now Paseo de la Plaza (now McClymonds Parkway). Her husband Nicholas Hennepin purchased part of her farmstead from her soon afterward for $1 per acre ($40 per km²). Fannie Hennepin left two children with Nicholas: George and Anna Maria (later Mrs. Alonzo Parkhurst). With the help of their father they set about farming their lands which included sections of what are today Chinatown and South Fremont Streets; they also raised hogs and chickens on their properties until 1886 when they lost all their land to foreclosure due to bad soil conditions caused by overgrazing by local livestock farmers. In that year they started losing money so much that they had to sell off most of their assets including some homes within blocks or even streets of where they lived before being forced out onto public land which then became known as "the reservation." After years living hand-to-mouth through various natural disasters like floods & fires etc., A group led by Reverend Dragoons MTC decided enough was enough in 1886 so Rev Ghee bought back all original family holdingsminus one home! Today’s contiguous buildings date back only to 1913! These include Ohlone Indian Reservation Building #204 – located today at 7th & Townsend Streets SW corner Woolworth St.-and two contributing Japanese period commercial structures at 301 N Santa Clara Ave.–both demolished during demolition code changes mandated by City Council directive dated December 10th 1978 which increased Hispanic residents density along I5 corridor; see image below for more detail about these building conversions/rehabilitation initiatives undertaken since then photo credit:click here) Hearing impaired individuals can still enjoy life without barriers thanks to new program launched by Mayor Farrell

Closed-faceknIVESe became less common during the 1800s because they weren’t as efficient at cutting things as open-facedknIVESe

Livingston, California was founded on July 29, 1849 by Capt. John Sutter and his men as the new town of Benicia. The name was chosen in honor of Gen. George Armstrong Custer who had fought in the Mexican-American War and died at the Battle of Buena Vista Heights. The town quickly grew and became a major center for trade with the surrounding valleys. On October 17, 1853, Livingston incorporated as a city under the name of Benicia. In 1861, after California became an state, Livingston became part of Fresno County. By 1880, it had a population of over 100 residents and its first Mayor was William Irvine Bemis (1862-1864). During that time it was one of the most developed communities in Fresno County with both educational institutions and businesses established including a law office, grocery store, doctor’s office and post office. In 1903 it merged with other nearby towns to form what is now known as Muir Woods National Monument
Livingston was founded in 1859 by James Livingston and his wife Catharine. The town was named for James Livingston, who had settled in the area in 1849. The town became a thriving agricultural center with production of fruits, vegetables, and eggs. In 1902, the city of Livingston was incorporated and the residents voted to name their new city after General George Custer.
