In the early 1800s, there were few if any firearms in Livingston. The area was a part of Mexico and the only way to get guns was through trade or purchase from Native Americans. This situation changed when American settlers arrived in the area. They began to build farms and started using firearms for hunting and protection. In 1836, one of these settlers, George Washington Morrison, founded what is now known as Morrison Arms Company in Livingston. At first, Morrison used his farm animals for target practice but soon he realized that this wasn’t enough to provide firepower for his farmstead. He decided to start manufacturing firearms himself and named his company after himself, George Washington Morrison Firearms Company. The first guns made by Morrison were pistols and rifles. These handguns were very primitive compared to today’s firearms and didn’t have much accuracy or strength. However, they were very popular among farmers because they were easy to use and could be fired quickly without having to reload. Over time, more improvements were made to the weaponry produced by Morrison Arms Company. For example, they began producing shotguns which became very popular among farmers because they could be fired rapidly with little effort required. By 1886, Morrisons weapons had reached a point where they could handle competition from other companies in the industry. This led him to establish another company called Golden Gate Armory whichriers their own rifle barrels into cannons that could fire at high speeds across long distances (up until about 1912). It was during this time that Livingston become an important center for gun production in California due to its location between San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento Valley making it a major hub for arms trafficking throughout the state (Fenton 2009). Morrison also established several other businesses within Livingston including an ice cream store and grocery store which closed around 1930; a mill which operated until 1916; a hairdresser/ beauty salon; two schools – one public school opened in 1922-23 while the other became private school No 1 in 1953-54; four churches – First Presbyterian Church (1922), Methodist Episcopal Church (1924), Baptist Churches(1926), Holy Cross Catholic Parish School District #2 (1929); two bowling alleys – One opened on State Street near downtown while another opened up on Beale Street just east of Highway 99 south of town limits; two movie theaters - The Majestic Theatre on Beale Street opened November 15th 1923 while Hollywood's Regal Cinemaopened December 3rd 1923 - both located north of downtown; One basketball arena - The Coliseum built 1915 next door (the current Doernbecher Recreation Center) while Alcatraz Island served as home stadium from 1935-1975 before being replaced by Candlestick Park

This technology eventually became important during Operation Overlord when Allied forces attacked Nazi Germany with artillery barrages made up mostly of small charges called “dart shells” which deposited large numbers ofrapnel onto enemy trenches). After World War II, interest in using airguns began to wane due to concerns about health risks associated with exposure to radiation from nuclear weapons testing and other military activities. However, over time some enterprising individuals began developing new types of airguns that employed alternative propellants such as propane or butane instead of gasoline or compressed gas. These new devices often required little maintenance and could reach impressive ranges thanks to their ability to generate significant power from small amounts of fuel input (henceforth referred to as “handheld firearms”).

Livingston was founded on April 15, 1849 by John Livingston and his brother James. It became a city in 1870. The first post office opened in Livingston on October 1, 1850.
