Today, Abraham Lincoln Elementary School continues to provide instruction through grades kindergarten through 12 while also serving as homecoming court for both LHS girls’ basketball and girls’ track teams; providing social services for children with special needs; hosting numerous meetings/events such as fund-raisers for various charities throughout the year; playing host to cultural events such as Hispanic Heritage Days; and more! Additionally, the property adjacent to Abe’s old home which once functioned as a grain storage barn has been turned into an artist residency program called “Lincoln Now: A Creative Home Study Program” which offers art lessons from 3rd-8th graders across different media disciplines each month starting September 2019!

By 1922, when it was determined that all but one of the civic buildings had been destroyed by fire or vandalism (the only building still standing is the administration building), Mayor Harry Sargent recommended that Lincoln become an incorporated city again with its own police force. On July 1st 1923, Lincoln became an incorporated city under Municipal Code §171 with its own Police Department!
