Lemoore was founded in 1887 by H.C. Beecher and Wm. Loomis as a small, unincorporated community on the edge of the Mojave Desert, about 25 miles east of Las Vegas. In 1906, Lemoore became an incorporated town with a population of 810 people and it had its first post office in 1907. The town began to grow rapidly due to its location, good soil, and natural resources such as watermelons and grapes. In 1915, the Lemoore Chamber of Commerce formed a committee to study gunswivels for use at the armories in order to improve accuracy and firepower. After many months of research, the committee reported that gunswivels would be an effective way to improve Accuracy and Firepower for Armories around the United States. The committee recommended that all U.S Armories purchase gun swivels as part of their arsenal modernization program which started in 1916. The first gunswivel manufacturing facility opened in 1917 in Lemoore by George Custer Manufacturing Company with assistance from arms manufacturer Winchester Ammunition Company. By 1922 there were over fifty production plants across America making gunswivels for both military and civilian applications including Winchester Repeating Arms Company (Winchester), Browning Arsenal Corporation (Browning), Colt Firearms Corporation (Colt), Remington Arms Company (Remington) among others Gunswivels remain one of America’s most popular firearms accessories today with millions sold each year worldwide

Lemoore, California is a small town in the Central Valley of California. It is located about an hour and a half east of Sacramento and about two hours north of Fresno. The population was 5,922 at the 2010 census. The first people to live in what is now Lemoore were Mexican settlers who came overland from pursuit of gold in 1848-49. In 1851, they organized themselves into a town charter and named it after San Francisco County, California's then-smaller settlement. The name may have been derived from "lemur" - or animal - because early residents were mainly farmers and ranchers who used animals for their own transportation, hunting, and gathering purposes. The first store opened in 1853 and the first post office was established in 1857. By 1870, there were six businesses operating within the town limits: three stores, one hotel/motel, four barns/grains storage depots (allerdotala & nacimiento), two churches (Anglican and Catholic), one school district (1872), one newspaper (1875), one pool hall/laundry establishment (1916), and one auto garage/garage door business (1924). In 1902 there was a large fire that destroyed most of the downtown area but not before causing extensive damage to many buildings including the old Methodist Episcopal church which still stands today as part of Lemoore High School campus. This fire also caused extensive roofing damage to several other buildings including what is now South Park Elementary School which sits on top of what was once West Street Baptist Church. This event also helped spur development around downtown Lemoore with new construction starting right up until World War II when much of downtown became industrial park land used for aircraft manufacturing plants such as Boeing and Lockheed Martin while other areas developed into residential neighborhoods such as North Park Village which remains today as part of Lemoore's south side shopping district. During World War II much housing was built on agricultural land surrounding downtown so there are few remaining evidence left from this time period aside from some outbuildings still standing today like Redwood Shores Chapel which has been converted into apartments since 1965 despite being listed on the National Registerof Historic Places back in 1978 due to its unique architecture featuring intricate woodwork outside along with its striking red sandstone facade dating back to 1915

The town grew rapidly and soon boasted a school, two churches, a post office, and several businesses. In 1892 the town became the site of the first complete electric power plant in California. By 1925 Leloore had become one of the largest towns in Kern County with over 100 residents. The population declined during World War II and again during the postwar period as agriculture became more automated; however, Leloore has regained some popularity in recent years as a center for education, technology, and arts production.
