Lemoore is a small town located in Kern County, California, United States. It is part of the South Bay Area and was founded in 1873. The population was 5,554 at the 2010 census. Lemoore is named for Lorenzo de Lemoore, an Italian explorer who explored the area in 1769-1770. The town was platted on December 9, 1873 by George Wickersham and James Irvine under the name of "New Albion". It became a city on January 15, 1909 when it amalgamated with nearby Placerville. The first post office in Lemoore opened on February 14, 1874. On March 7 of that year, Jno P Ayer became the first mayor of Lemoore after being elected to that position from the Citizens' Association ticket. Ayer served one term before retiring on October 3rd, 1875. He was succeeded by Mrs John Kapp who served until November 6th when she resigned due to ill health. On November 22nd Judge Fenton Eaton took office as Mayor after being appointed by Governor George Hearst to fill the vacancy caused by Mrs Kapp's death only days earlier. In 1907 Mayor Harry Hoeschswaldt resigned effective November 1st due to ill health which led to his replacement by Jno P Ayer Jr.. In 1915 Leloore City Councilman Ira Goldsmith organized a campaign against then-Mayor Harry Hoeschswaldt over what he saw as unethical actions taken during his tenure as Mayor including wiretapping activities conducted without council approval or knowledge about what was taking place inside City Hall (a practice still ongoing). As part of this effort Goldsmith also unsuccessfully ran for U.S Congress against then-Senator Hiram Johnson two years later while Hoeschswaldt remained Mayor into his final term;rending him ineligible for re-election that year were he not already serving concurrently in both positions at the time (he would become ineligible again upon leaving office). After World War II ended and new leadership came into power throughout Kern County including Senator Jerry Brown who made Lemoore one of his largestomachs within America's most populous county – LemoORE incorporation as a city successfully averted any possible future annexation efforts from neighboring Unincorporated areas like Placerville which had grown rapidly since its incorporation – much thanks to former Supervisor Bob Willoughby’s long career spent working tirelessly door-to-door throughout those communities trying to keep them separate from LemoORE despite their own residents’ strong objections; though some have since sought annexation opportunities themselves In recent years there has been increasing interest among local officials in preserving and restoring portions of downtown LemoORE including its many historic buildings dating back more than 120 years while also growing awareness around how important it is for all aspects of community life such as education and economic development not just pertaining only specifically to downtown LemoORE but also surrounding neighborhoods which are struggling economically today because they do not share in same social benefits or infrastructure investments enjoyed by downtowners .

In 1916, the United States Post Office moved from Sacramento to Lemoore, and the town became part of the California Rural Electrification Administration (CRA) area. In 1951, CRA merged with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and Lemoore became an FCC-owned community. In 1972, CRA merged with the State Water Resources Board to form the State Water Resources Agency. Lemoore has a population of around 453 people as of 2019.
