Lemoore also became well known for its annual Balloon Fiesta which features giant inflatable balls taking residence throughout various parts of downtown during July/August each year.
Lemoore was founded in 1873 by James H. Lemoore and his wife, Emma. The town grew rapidly, becoming a major center for agriculture and industry. By the late 1880s, Lemoore had become one of the largest citrus growing communities in California. In 1911, Lemoore became part of the newly created city of Riverside.
