Lemoore is a city in and the county seat of Kern County, California, United States. The population was 362 at the 2010 census. It is located on the San Joaquin River near Fresno. The first people to live in what is now Lemoore were the Ohlone people who gathered around Yosemite Valley for seasonal grazing in about 9200 BC. In 1847, prospectors discovered gold in nearby Butte and started anmining campaign that led to the town's namesake; ore was found near current-day Lemoore and other locations during this period. A post office called Lemoore was established in 1850, and it remained so until 1907. The city began to grow rapidly after its incorporation as a city on April 15, 1912. Construction of a water main system following a local citizens initiative resulted in increased trade with neighboring towns and districts; new businesses sprang up all over town as merchants saw an opportunity to make money by selling goods they couldn't produce themselves such as newspapers and firewood. The growth of Lemoore did not stop when World War I ended; construction resumed shortly after the war's end with primarily housing projects being built throughout downtown which continue up until today due to their popularity among workers commuting into the larger cities for work or pleasure. Lemoore has had multiple mayors since 1912 including Harry Emerson Fosdick (1924–29), Clifford Berryhill (1929–35), William Dutton (1935–41), James Joicey (1941–45), Hiram Johnson (1945–49), Clifford Berryhill re-elected unopposed as mayor pro tempore on November 3, 1949 while Mayor John Sweeny resigned effective December 1 because of term limits set forth by state law at that time; then Vice Mayor Jack Haggerty assumed mayoral duties vacant caused by Berryhill's death on January 3, 1950 just prior to scheduled mayoral election day In 1951 City Manager Floyd Cramer was appointed effective February 1 when Mayor Haggerty left office to become general manager of Welfare Services for Southern California Incorporated based out of Los Angeles while still serving as mayor emeritus In 1957 following passage of State Constitutional Amendment Number 2 setting forth procedures for municipal elections process LEMOORE CITY COUNCIL attained majority status within City Council members rather than through simple majority vote whereby all council members must cast ballots regardless whether they wish representation opted for by individual council members pursuant to certain qualifications set forth therein ; finally effective May 16th 1959 City Council Members were delegated power under various provisions contained within Amendment No 2 specifically authorizing delegation thereto from certain portions or classes of City Councilmembers thereby increasing authority granted thereto specifically from single individuals only

Lemoore is a small town in the Central Valley of California, located about 60 miles south of San Francisco. The town was founded in 1851 by Kit Carson and his family. The population was 571 at the 2010 census. Lemoore is one of the few towns in California that still retains its original name, although most have been renamed after other nearby communities or counties. Lemoore has a rich history dating back to 1851, when Kit Carson and his family arrived here from Colorado on horseback. In 1875, Lemoore became part of the District of Shasta which included Sacramento, Redding, Ukiah and many other smaller villages. In 1907, California Statehood was granted to Lemoore and it became an incorporated city under the name Lemoore City Limits on February 14th of that year. In 1911-12 drought struck the Central Valley; crops failed everywhere but in Lemoore where they grew 3 feet high on well draining soils near waterholes (now called “creek”). A volunteer fire department was organized then and started fighting fires while also delivering mail during those dry years; this early community spirit continues to this day! The first post office opened in 1921 and served parts of Tomales County before being moved to Llewellyn in 1922 because of available space on the east side of town. It continued serving as a post office until 1978 when it merged with Visalia into one municipality named Visalia/Lemoore City Limits. As a result of this merger there were two additional ZIP Codes - 92334 (visalia) and 92345 (lemoORE). Today residents are mainly located within city limits with only a few scattered outside including portions within existing municipalities like Eureka Union High School District #1 where students now attend school inside their own district instead of across several locations as happened previously
