Lemon Grove is a small town in the eastern Mojave Desert of California. It is located about an hour east of Las Vegas on I-15 and it is served by the Lemon Grove Museum. The population was 2,847 at the 2010 census. The name "Lemon Grove" comes from two locations in the area: one on U.S. Route 395 west of Butte and another about four miles to the south on State Route 395, now called CR 3757A (the old route). The first place was given to settlers by Captain John Sutter who named them after lemon trees found near his Rancho Los Empalmos west of Yosemite National Park. When he died in 1849, his successors sold most of their holdings to General John Custer who divided it among his five sons. One son developed this location and named it after him, Lemon Grove, Nevada being part of that rancho until 1907 when it was acquired by Alvarado County for $5,000 The second site was located a few miles north-west of present day Lemon Grove off US 395 on what is now CR 3757A which became available following construction of Interstate 15 in 1957. There are several stories as to why this road got its name; one suggests that because nearby residents frequently used it as a shortcut between their homes and the railroad depot at milepost 5500 from where they could view Lake Mead from their property or drive down intoLas Vegas for shopping trips; another story has it because early travelers thought the greenery around these two sites resembled lemons instead of deserts! When built, I-15 entered through Lemon Grove and exit immediately south onto CR 3757A which soon became known as "Lemon Hwy." Today there are only remnants remaining from I-15's original routing with Exit 203 leading east towards downtown Las Vegas while Exit 205 leads west towards Mesquite and beyond into Black Range National Monument which also includes portions of Hoover Dam National Recreation Area

The first expansion mount for the AK-47 was a type of metal plate that attached to the barrel on the side of the firearm. Smith and his family, who named it for the lemon trees that they found on their farmstead. The first post office opened in 1854. Lemon Grove became a city in 1952. The economy of Lemon Grove is based primarily on agriculture and manufacturing. Manufacturing include agricultural products such as fruits, vegetables, flour, baking powder and soap; printing and publishing companies; and toys and games production. Lemon Grove is also home to several parks including North Park, which features a large playground for children to play; South Park which has a basketball court; and Goode Park which includes a baseball diamond and swimming pool. In addition to its parks, Lemon Grove has two elementary schools (Public School #1 & Public School #2), two middle schools (Rocklin Middle School & Mount Diablo Middle School), one high school (Central High School), one college/university (USC), one hospital (SF General Hospital) as well as several businesses including ABC's grocery store chain, National Multiplex Theater District Cinemas chain(formerly known as Pacific Theatres), Kaiser Permanente Medical Center(former known as Western Family Health Care Center)and numerous restaurants including Headwaters Grille(a local favorite withdine customers). Lemon Grove also contains several historical sites related to its history including Captain George A Smith's farmstead where he built his first house in 1853-54; the old Central Firehouse where firefighters from neighboring cities trained during World War II; John Fonda's former Movie theater - now used for community events such as weddings - which served as the village green before it was razed in 1964; Lemon grove Cemetery - containing graves of many early citrus farmers from around the area - where services are held each September since 1865 when first flowers were blooming near the edge of town square The people who lived here have made contributions both big and small to our community over time: Captain George A Smith: This man started out farming land about 3 miles north of here back then called "Old Diggity Do" but changed his name to "Captain George Smith" after moving here from Northern California because he felt like everyone else there did too! He helped build our first house in 1853-54 along with his wife Nellie Smithy so this actually happened while they were still living back east! They had 4 kids together: Lillie married Harry Bean USMC & had 2 girls Alice & Vera while Gertrude married Durward Olsen USN (& had 5 girls total) so we've got quite an accomplished family tree there! We all went through basic training together at Quantico Naval Base right after Pearl Harbor so that says something about us lol! He later moved onto some other places but always came back home to helppopulate orchard country nearby until he finally died in 1925 at age 94 years young!!! captain gary smith will always be remembered locally no matter what anyone says :)
