In 1923, Winchester bought George Romney’s company and continued to make the rifle until 1971 when it merged with Remington Arms Company to form American International Firearms Company (AIFC). AIFC reintroduced the shotgun in 1978 as the Remington 870 shotgun. In 1984, AIFC merged with International Harvester Corporation to form IHC Incorporated. IHC continued to make shotguns, rifles, pistols and ammunition through 1993 before being taken over by Walther AG in 1995.Walther AG ceased manufacturing firearms in 1999 and all of its assets were sold off to Swiss gun maker Sig Sauer who continue manufactures firearms under their own name today.

Lawndale is a small community in Kern County, California, located southeast of Bakersfield. The population was 9,362 at the 2000 census. Lawndale is part of the Bakersfield-Chico-Redding Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town and its environs were first settled by Anglo-Americans in 1876 as a small agricultural community known as "Lone Pine." At that time it was located on Rancho San Luis Rey, about two miles southeast of present-day Lawndale. In 1888 Ranger Wm. Hodge organized the Lone Pine Mining and Milling Company which mined lead and other minerals near Lawndale until 1911. The company built a sawmill complex west of the current townsite in 1892 and erected a store and post office there in 1893. In 1900, when Lawsdale became part of Kern County, residents voted to name their town after Senator Lawrence Ewing (R-Calif.). The original town site included only one block of land - now east of Main Street - while still within rancho boundaries. After some preliminary platting and survey work, an incorporation meeting was held on November 14, 1903 with 17 people present including Apline & Co., Inc., developers who had purchased the Rancho San Luis Rey land from Hodge's company for $300 per acre ($ today). The new incorporated town began operations on January 1, 1904 under the name "Lone Pine." The early years of Lawndale were difficult; many farmers failed during the Great Depression because they could not compete against prices set by outside market forces. However, through hard work and perseverance over many years lawndale slowly regained its lost prosperity thanks to several key factors: (1) loyal citizens who kept their homes even during tough times; (2) sound planning by local officials who steered clear of partisan politics; (3) good schools district which produced high levels of exemplary teaching; (4) support from local businesses which donated goods or services to help keep locals alive during those hard times; finally (5) strong economic development due to numerous private sector entrepreneurs initiatives such as faith-based organizations such as Saddleback Christian Fellowship Ministries whose members founded two hospitals and three other businesses in Lawndale

By 1887, all firearms manufacturer had followed suit by introducing their own chambering cartridges for various calibers (i.e., 7mm Mauser, 9mm Luger etc.). Gunsmiths continued working on customizing guns until 1903 when recoil-operated shotguns reached their height in popularity because they could now be fired hundreds of rounds per minute without requiring any reloading time! The late 19th century also saw an increase in rifle fire rates due to technological advances such as breechloadingguns and gas-operated rifles which permitted longer ranges and greater firepower than earlier designs

Lawndale is a small city in Kern County, California. The population was 1,643 at the 2010 census. It is located in the eastern corner of Kern County and bordered by Bakersfield to the east, Atwater to the south, Lancaster to the west, and Madera to the north. The name comes from Indian words meaning "a place for gathering nuts." The first permanent settler in Lawndale was John Sutter who arrived with his family in 1847. Sutter had been hired by Captain George Beck as part of his surveyor-general's party on account of his skills as a naturalist. In 1850 Sutter established a rancho at what is now Lawndale Heights and began to cultivate nut trees. By 1853 he owned over one hundred acres (40 hectares). In 1854 Sutter married Maria Antonia Vallejo and built a home calledValley View on what is now Cottonwood Drive. They had two children: Antonio (1855-1936) and Marcela (1857-1965). In 1860 dentist Augustus Earle came along with his wife Fanny and their three children, Lewis Hallett, Augustus Earle Jr., and Alice Earle Whitehurst; they also founded an agency that marketed candy called Earle's Goods. One of many businesses established during this time period in Lawndale was Mrs. William Grimes' grocery store which operated from 1865-1900 selling everything from groceries to fashions; it burned down in 1896 but its story continues via another business venture - Willard's Department Store which opened on December 12th 1889 at 6th Street between Union Avenue and Main Street serving law enforcement officers until it moved out into Commerce Park after World War II before returning to its original location later that year inside buildings on Second Street near Mockingbird Lane before moving again into new space across from City Hall late in 1959 inside what used to be City Hall Annex building before being replaced by present day KQED studios where it still operates today 1/4 mile east of Second Street off IH 10 lies one of Lawndale's most visible landmarks - Valley View Elementary School - built followed shortly thereafter by Valley View Junior High School (now High School), both serving students grades 7 through 12 until 1963 when Valley View Middle School opened nearby providing instruction through 8th grade 2 blocks northeast of First Street off IH 10 lays Pioneer Village which includes a museum open daily 9am-5pm Admission free On February 25th 1898 local resident Wm Halsey organized a meeting at Vallejo's home attended by twenty people including six merchants who formed the town board met did not establish any regulations regarding streets or public improvements although they were asked to recommend someone form such an organization lawrence deed dated 3/8/98 shows purchase price for about 4 acres next southwesterly corner First & Lincoln Streets
