Gun swivels have been around since at least the 1800s. However, their history in Lakewood is much older. In 1894, a gunsmith named Augustus Sheehan patented a design for a revolving armature that could hold an ammunition clip in place while the gun was being fired. Then, in 1966, gunslinger Bob Kapp designed and patented what is now known as the Kapp-Boyd cocking handle grip safety system for firearms using magazines holding more than 20 rounds of ammunition. Lakewood, California is a city located in San Diego County, California. The population was 44,598 as of the 2010 census. It is the smallest city in San Diego and has the smallest population per square mile of any municipality in California. The City of Lakewood was founded on December 15, 1912 by 16 businessmen from La Jolla and Carlsbad who bought land south of Interstate 5 to create a new town. The original name for the town was Pajaro Heights. In 1916, when it became apparent that there would be no other towns established in that area and because of its small size, the City Council voted to rename the town Lakewood after Major General George Washington Chase (1819-1910), Superintendent of Indian Affairs for San Diego County at the time. At first, only men were allowed to vote in Lakewood; however, women soon gained access to voting ballots. The first mayor was John Ahern (1920-1925). From 1925 until 1959, Mayor Harry Weyer served two terms with an total tenure of four years; all subsequent mayors have been three-year terms with antotal term length of six years or less. In 1957, voters passed a charter amendment establishing a school district which took effect on July 1st that year and continueed until 1984 when it merged with neighboring Carlotta Valley School District #1 due to overcrowding within the then existing Carlotta Valley School District #2 On November 3rd ballot Proposition H (1991) amended Charter Amendment No 8 which authorized creationof a consolidated police department under contract with SDPD for services withinCity limits without having to go through process set forth in Charter Amendment No 7 authorizing establishmentof Police Department withinCity Limits

In 1903, it merged with neighboring Riverside to form a new city government. In 1966 it became an incorporated town and in 1998 became a city again. Today, Lakewood has a population of over 100,000 people and is home to many businesses and services that contribute to its economy. The first settlers in what is now Lakewood were farmers who came from Northern California after the Gold Rush era of 1849-1853. James W. Lake was one such settler who arrived in 1873 from Sacramento County. He built a cabin on the banks of Clear Creek near present-day downtown Lakewood while also starting a lumber business which he named "Lakewood Lumber Company." The company prospered for several years until 1875 when gold discoveries Beginnining to be made in nearby Riverside led to increased demand for lumber products from around the area and eventually brought about Lakes merger with Riverside into what would become known as Lakewood proper on Julien Bachells birthday - July 25th 1877 This event marked an important milestone not only because it formalized local jurisdiction but also because both cities had grown rapidly since their incorporation days; by 1886 they had reached their current sizes with populations of 11,812 and 16,623 respectively). By 1902 both cities had consolidated under one government consisting of a Mayor/Council combination as well as street cleaning/lighting ordinances being adopted within each municipal area which helped promote economic development within their respective boundaries along with growing social clubs which attracted more residents to these areas among other amenities including parks (the original Sunrise Park site located between Seventh Street & Figueroa Avenue today can be found across from City Hall) . These developments helped spur growth within either community which eventually led to them amalgamating into what would become known as Los Angeles County effective Jan 1st 1906 following passage of two state laws – one approving annexation by LA county and another authorizing consolidation efforts throughout tspCounty pursuant to Act 5272 – this act created 9 new townships making up LA county including those situated inside than now defunct Riverside City Limits . By 1910 both Cities had attained nearly 20000 residents apiece however housing prices within each municipality varied greatly due largely to lack thereof at that time although some properties did start selling during later decades such as Old Towne reopening after being abandoned following World War II having seen high demand due numerous Korean refugees moving into various parts of Southern California during that time period…………………. Lakewood is a city in San Bernardino County, California, United States. The population was 23,786 at the 2010 census. It is located on the eastern edge of San Bernardino and part of the Riverside metropolitan area. The city was founded in 1878 by John Lathrop and his brother-in-law George Washington White as a small community called "Lathrop's Valley". The name Lakewood comes from a nearby creek called Big Creek (later renamed East Fork Little Creek). In 1887, Lathrop donated land to create what would become known as Central Park. The first school in Lakewood opened in 1892. In 1906, Mayor Arthur Ashe became the first African American to serve as Mayor of Los Angeles when he was elected to succeed James Rolph. After three terms asMayor, Ashe resigned due to health reasons on November 5, 1916 becoming one of only two LA City Councilmembers ever to do so. He died December 10th that year at age 71 years old after serving for 43 years total across all levels of government including 3 terms on the City Councilmember position and 11 years as Mayor
