Lakewood is a city in Los Angeles County, California, United States. The population was 84,527 at the 2010 census. It is part of the LA metropolitan area. The city's history goes back to 1892 when it was named for George A. Lake and developed along the banks of the Ramona River. Lakewood's first store opened on Main Street in 1892 and soon became a popular destination for shoppers from nearby Koreatown and Hollywood. In 1904, Lakewood built its first school and started offering classes to childrens aged 5-8 years old. In 1916, the city founded its first police department with 16 officers and began serving residents within its borders rather than just Koreatown or Hollywood. In 1920, Lakewood annexed neighboring Covina Heights and began rapid growth as a result of new manufacturing expansions in Southern California during what is known as the "Great Depression." By 1931, Lakewood had more than 300 businesses including 20 breweries and 100 bars/restaurants. During World War II, Lakewood served as an important military base with numerous manufacturing plants operated by both the U.S Army Signal Corps and U S Navy before becoming an important center for civil aviation after Japan bombed Pearl Harbor on December 7th 1941

In 1902, it became part of the town of Encinitas and then the city of San Diego. In 1951, Lakewood annexed parts of Rancho Bernardo which led to its current name: "Lakewood". The annexation also created a new ZIP Code – 92103 – for residents in that area only. The $1 billion redevelopment project called Vista del Lago began in 2004 and ended in 2009 after being stalled for years due to cost overruns and legal challenges from environmental groups who alleged that the project would impact their rights to water resources In 2006, Salt Lake City-based Black Diamond Group agreed to buy all assets (except land) of Vista del Lago from VISTA Del Lago Partners LLC for $160 million dollars making it America's largestever private investment in mixed use development On July 1st, 2015 Mayor Kevin Faulconer announced that he will not run for re-election on November 3rd because he feels his time has already been spent working on important issues like infrastructure projects within the city while others are running For mayor Mayor Faulconer has since announced his intention to run again next year

They used a stick-and-a-rope system towalk which allowed them to avoid obstacles and move quickly through their environment. While these early humans did use some form of bipedalism, it was not until about 5000 BCE when Egyptians started using an annular band system which allowed them to walk on both feet at the same time in order to reach high places or run away from danger (Fowler). After the Egyptians developed this method, other cultures soon followed suit and began using similar systems for walking locomotion. From there, the development of technology helped us create more efficient methods of walking bipedally including shoes and crutches which we use today (Liu). Even though our current methods are much more efficient than those used by ancient civilizations, there is still room for improvement as new technologies develop.
