The history of guns in Lake Forest, California dates back to the 1800s. Prior to that, the area was home to Native American tribes who used bows and arrows to hunt game. As time passed, various groups of people began using firearms for self-defense and hunting. One of the earliest examples of handguns in Lake Forest was a revolver made by George Weiser in 1853. This handgun was later renamed the Colt Model 1860 Revolver after its inventor, Samuel Colt. In 1894, The Arms Manufacturing Company opened up shop in Lake Forest and started producing rifles and shotguns. They soon became known for their quality products and helped develop what is now known as American Shooting Sports Association (ASSA). As ASSA morphed into today’s National Rifle Association (NRA), it continued producing firearms for both personal defense and hunting purposes until at least 1968. From 1898 until 1911, firearm production took place at Altec Corporation’s factory on Deerfield Avenue in Lake Forest. This factory produced pistols such as the Browning Automatic Pistol (BAP) and Colt Single Action Army (SAA). In 1901, Altec merged with Springfields Armory company which had been manufacturing revolvers since 1892. At this point, pistols were being produced under two different brands – Springfields & Altec respectively – but eventually just one name would be used throughout these years:Springfield Armory® Firearms Incorporated*. By 1922, all rifle production at Altec Corporation had come to an end; however, they still manufactured revolvers under their own banner until 1927 when they merged with Winchester Repeating Arms Company to form Winchester Repeating Arms Company Incorporated(). As Winchester Repeating Arms Company Incorporated(), they continued making revolvers until 1934 when they were merged again with Remington Arms Company* which also makes rifles today!*)

The site of what is now Lake Forest was first settled by the Costantini tribe of Native Americans in 1827. In 1836, Joseph Sutter discovered and named Lake Forest after himself and others in his party on their way to find Gold Rush mines in Yosemite National Park. In 1868, George Hearst bought land at the confluence of rivers Arroyo Seco and San Joaquin from the Pomo people for $22 per acre (1/2¢ per bushel). He renamed it Hearst City after his father-in-law, Sir John A. Macdonald, Prime Minister of Canada. Hearst City grew rapidly due to exports of lumber and other goods associated with his new town; he also built several schools and a hospital. The city reached its peak during World War II when more than 50% of all local industry came from defense needs; however, as production shifted to other areas after the war, Lake Forest lost some key industries including education and transportation. More recently,Lakeforest has seen growth in biomedical research thanks to its location near UC Davis Medical Center and Kaiser Permanente California's Northridge HealthCare Facility as well as recent development such as an office park completed in 2007 adjacent to Interstate 5 which has led to increased traffic congestion on I-5 around town center

Lake Forest, California was originally a small community located on the shores of Lake Forrest. The community was founded in 1879 by three brothers who named it after their father, Lt. Gov. James Leland Forrest. The brother's farm became the first town in Lake Forest and the first in Orange County. In 1905, the name of the town was changed to Lake Forest Hills after Dr. George Washington Hill, an early settler and son of Senator Prentice Hall Hill of Alabama. In 1912, following annexation by Anaheim City, Lake Forest Hills became one of two city neighborhoods in Anaheim that were not included within the original city boundaries. The other neighborhood was Hollywood Heights which incorporated in 1926. Lake Forest is currently a census-designated place (CDP) located adjacent to Anaheim City on both sides of I-5 and within its borders are several small unincorporated communities including Sherman Oaks, Garden Grove, La Brea and Westlake Village as well as more major neighborhoods such as Fountain Valley and Midtown Los Angeles
