Lake Elsinore is a reservoir in the eastern Mojave Desert of California. The name comes from the Spanish word "elixir" meaning "water of life." Lake Elsinore was formed when three rivers—the Kern River, East Kern River, and North Kern River—joined together long ago. Over time, rain events caused some parts of these rivers to overflow their banks and create what's now Lake Elsinore. Nowadays, only a small amountof waterflows into elixir from surrounding hillsides each year- which keeps things clean and healthy for alligators who live nearby!

Lake Elsinore is located in the Inland Empire of California, about an hour southeast of Los Angeles. The name comes from a mission called La Jolla del Rey, or the Spanish for "the bay of the kings." The missions were founded by Franciscans in 1795 and were dedicated to converting Native Americans, who numbered about 10,000 at their peak. The mission was destroyed in 1821 by a party of soldiers led by General Mariano Cámpora and its buildings were replaced with a stockade. A year later, Mexico acquired California and rebuilt San Diego as its capital. In 1848, when gold was discovered near Elsinore (in what is now Orange County), American miners began to arrive and the mission became known as San Bernardino de la Alameda (the new Mission). But it closed in 1855 because too many people were living there without proper water supply or sanitation. In 1862, when California became a U.S. state, La Jolla del Rey became part of Pasadena; but for much of its history it remained an agricultural community with small clusters of adobe homes scattered around nine miles of coastline on both sides of San Pedro Bay. When Interstate 5 was constructed through central Los Angeles in the early 1970s, gentle hillsides between Lake Elsinore Boulevard and Harbor Boulevard came down so that Superfund sites could be cleanup operations happening at that time; however most residents still largely avoided looking out onto those ridges because they worried about contamination from nearby factories over which they had no control! But then something amazing happened: the town’s population explosion started spontaneous growth as people moved into neighborhoods away from highways where they felt they couldn’t breathe or drink without fear their houses would collapse! By 1990 Pasadena had annexed all but 1/3rd of Lake Elsinore while only 2/3rds lived within its boundaries—-a process that will continue until 2020! As development pressures increased inland after World War II—and more people arrived to escape air pollution brought on by industrial production—Elsinore saw rapid growth starting in earnest during the late 1960s through the 1980s thanks to large-scale annexation efforts spearheaded by city leaders like Mayor Arturo Villaraigosa and City Councilman Herb Wesson Jr.—eventually resulting in greater than doubling (from just under 1,200 residents to over 4,600) since 1990 alone! Today's population stands at 11,500+, according to city records–making it one of Southern California's fastest-growing cities not only due to recent annexations but also because few outsiders are aware even exists!
