Lake Elsinore is a city in San Bernardino County, California, United States. The population was 26,041 at the 2010 census. It is the second-most populous city in San Bernardino County after Riverside. The city's name comes from the elm tree which grows along the banks of the river nearby.
Lake Elsinore is located in the Inland Empire of California, about 20 miles east of downtown Los Angeles. The body of water has a surface area of 128 square miles and a population of over 214,000. It is the largest artificial lake on the West Coast and one of the most popular tourist destinations in Southern California. The water has a temperate climate with average temperatures range from 18-28 degrees Celsius year-round. The name Lake Elsinore comes from two places: 1) A stream called "Elsinore" ran through an old mission near the present day town of San Bernardino; 2) A small settlement, now known as Lakeview Terrace, was founded by Captain John Sutter on December 26th, 1819. As early as 1795, Mission San Gabriel de los Arroyos had been given authority to lease Rancho Cerritos (now part of Irvine), including land around what are now lakes Elsinore and Irvine. On July 12th, 1825 Mexican Governor José Antonio Peña created Rancho Rinconada del Norte which included all that now makes up Lake Elsinore except for someaga (across from Mount Wilson). This grant extended down to what is today's Riverside County west to Interstate 5 south to Pojoa Canyon east to Temecula Valley north to Yucca Valley and was bounded by Menifee Creek flowing into Orange County on the south side and Escondido Creek flowing into Riverside County on the north side. On October 30th, 1848 when Mission San Gabriel de los Arroyos was sold off for $10 million to Pacheco & Co., developers began work on building what would become known as "The Capitol", or Morehouse Hall (named after Bishop James Moore Morehouse who donated land for it). In May 1850 they completed grading and started constructing roads which led out onto their new property including portions of State Street between Lomas Boulevard and Temple Avenue today's Museum Row. The first home built at Morehouse Hall was called "Temple". On November 14th Congresswoman Nancy Skinner moved into her first address in Washington D.C., four months after she was sworn in as a United States Senator! The original dome-shaped morehouse hall still stands today within sight but unused outside its current boundaries - making it one half mile wide! It wasn't until 1875 that construction began on what would become known as White House Hill; this house served both as President Ulysses S Grant's official residence during his time in office (1881-1885) as well as his private bedroom(s)! Today only vestiges remain from these days including three white columns remaining elevated just beyond where I-5 meets Lankershim Boulevard – providing an excellent view looking back upon those days! President William McKinley also used White House Hill during his tenure which ended with his assassination in 1901 (!), leaving behind 1 acre vacant within Park Row currently hosting offices belonging to City College District! Upon McKinley's death his widow lady Jane Addams purchased much of he real estate surrounding White House Hill for use as Hull House – becoming oneof America’s most celebrated socialitarians!! After serving many terms representing Illinois in Congresswoman Addams became American Ambassador To Spain during World War II !! All told our presidents have spent an average OF 113 nights per year at Our Lady Of La Jolla Church... pretty darn impressive huh!? Some other interesting facts about this amazing place include that it has hosted every Summer Olympics since 1896!!! And don't forget...it's home wine country too!!!!!!!!

Lake Elsinore, California is a small town located in the San Bernardino Mountains of Southern California. The town was founded on July 24, 1857 by George C. It wasn't until 1892 that the town had its own water supply and began to grow as a agricultural center. After World War II, Elsinore became an idyllic retirement community with plenty of hiking trails and beautiful lakeside views. Today, Elsinore is known for its annual Christmas Parade which features floats decorated with holiday lights and music from local choirs.
The town of Elsinore was founded in 1871 by the brothers John and George Hetch Hetchy. The town grew rapidly, and in 1902 it became a city. The city was renamed Sacramento in 1905. Elsinore is now a small community located within Sacramento City limits.
