A large number of people have ancestry from Spain, Portugal or Mexico so there are many Spanish surnames living in Laguna Hills today including Arenas, Arceo, Aschbacher, Bardeen and Becerril among others. There are also numerous Italian/Spanish surnames such as CarbonellIglesias and Martinez among others who live here also. Vietnamese immigrants have lived here for many years as well with some still residing today in areas like Canoga Park and Northridge. There is also sizable Indian American populations living here including Hindus from India such as Surajeshwaranand Garg; Sikhs from Punjab like Gurmeet Singh; Muslims like Saleemuddin Bukhari; East Indians like Maruti Rayudu; Japanese Americans such as Masaaki Shimizu; Chinese Americans such as Huang Chaoqing

Laguna Hills is a city located in Riverside County, California, United States. The population was 27,583 as of the 2010 census. Laguna Hills was first settled in 1881 by Mexican Americans and became an all-Jewish community. The city's current name derived from its location on the floodplain of the San Gabriel River. Laguna Hills was founded in 1881 by Mexican Americans who had migrated to southern California from Central America. The town quickly grew, becoming an all-Jewish community with a growing population of people of other religions as well. In 1916, prominent Jewish lawyer Samuel Untermeyer donated land to create a public school in Laguna Hills for children of his clients and others who desired one without discrimination or financial hardship. In 1923, the townspeople voted to rename themselves after their founder – Laguna Hills – following Untermeyer's death that year. The city has experienced many changes over its history; some significant include: In 1924, the US military established Camp O'Donnell within limits of the city limits as part of World War II mobilization efforts; this camp served as a base for American soldiers until it was closed in 1944 due to increased security concerns at nearby Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). In 1964, Mayor Edward Jaffe proposed creating an annex within City Limits which would have allowed more development within those boundaries while still adhering to City Regulations; this proposal did not gain support and no annexation took place during Jaffe's tenure. In 1998, work began on bringing Valley Village Shopping Center intolaguna hills; however,.the project failed to gain momentum and ultimately ended up being abandoned in 2000 after only costing $30 million dollars ($ today). In 2006–2007, large sections ofCity Limits were rezoned for residential use which caused much contention among residents regarding accessibility and parking restrictions; this rezoning also led to an increase in crime rates in certain areas around City Limits that later yielded negative consequences for overall safety. On July 1st 2007, Laguna Hills voters passed Measure M which authorizes tax increment financing (TIF) districts within Citylimits – which will allow businesses inside City limits but allows them no ability whatsoever to raise taxes above what is set by county government through Proposition 65 – thereby increasing property values near City Limits by increasing state sales taxes levied on these properties when sold outside ofcity limits
