Gun barrels have been a part of Laguna Hills, California society for over a century. The first guns were made in Laguna Hills by early pioneers and cowboys. The earliest cannons were made from old tin cans and other metal sheeting. By the turn of the century, Laguna Hills had a large population with many gunsmiths who created new firearms designs. In 1907, Captain J.W. Stephenson founded the San Fernando Valley Rifle Club and began manufacturing rifles in his home town of Los Angeles for local hunters and outdoorsmen. His rifles became known as “The Americans” because they were crafted in America rather than Europe or Asia. In 1911, Captain Stephenson's son-in-law, George Whetzel, joined him at San Fernando Valley Rifle Club to help build their next generation of firearms which would become known as "The Whetzel Guns". George was an experienced rifle builder and he designed several innovative firearms including the Model 1910 Winchester Repeater which became one of the most popular shotguns in history due to its accuracy and long lasting firesaleability. By 1920 there were more than 20 companies manufacturing rifles in Southern California including San Francisco Arms Company; Brownells Arsenal; Diamond Ordnance; Purdy Firearms; American Armory; Empire Arms Company; United Gun & Pistol Manufacturing Company (UGMP); Grosvenor Arms & Ammunition Corporation (GAAC) ; Colt Firearms Manufacturing Co.; Western Gun Workshops Incorporated (WGW). Many of these companies operated out of small frame workshops located throughout Southern California while others built multimillion dollar factories on Long Beach Island near Torrance during World War II when ammunition production soared due to demand from military forces all over the world. During World War II many American manufacturers stopped making arms but continue to produce ammo until 1945 when production halted again because of wartime rationing

Today, the company still makes shotguns and rifles as well as some cannons and grenade launchers.

Laguna Hills started as a small community on the western edge of what is now Anaheim (then called Buena Park) in 1907. By 1960 Laguna Hills had become one of the most diverse towns in Orange County and its residents were estimated to be about 60% Latinos. In the early 2000s Laguna Hills experienced rapid growth as a bedroom community for Los Angeles; however, many of its residents remain affluent enough to maintain their own lifestyles while living close to major employers such as Staples Center and UCLA. Laguna Hills is a small city in southern California, located on the eastern edge of San Bernardino County. The population was 25,362 as of the 2010 census. The original name for the town was "Santiago del Oro". The first post office opened in 1893. In 1912, it became a city and later annexed by Riverside County. Laguna Hills has several shopping malls and three large golf courses: one located on Sawtelle Boulevard near Caltech; another at Montrose Canyon Golf Course, just east of Interstate 10; and a third at Apple Valley Country Club in Hesperia. It also boasts many vacation rentals and homes that are used for business or pleasure purposes such as the Laguna Hills Resort & Spa, which overlooks Lake Arrowhead and offers tennis, squash, horseback riding, golfing, water skiing and more than 150 acres (60 hectares) of forested lands including hiking trails nutritionally rich with fruits trees like avocados and pears
Laguna Hills is located in Southern California and is the largest city in Orange County. The community was founded on the site of a now-demolished mill, which was first mentioned in 1795. Laguna Hills was named for an artificial lake that once existed in the area. It became an incorporated town in 1912. In 1937, Laguna Hills became an unincorporated census-designated place.
