In 1922, the LaVerne Pistol Company was founded by George W. Kapp and John H. Sheppard in La Verne, California. The company manufactured revolvers, pistols and shotguns under the name of the "La Verne Rifle and Shotgun Company". In 1935, the company became known as Savage Arms Corporation. Savage Arms Corporation was merged into Remington Arms Corporation in 1988.

In 1857 LaVerne voters passed a $10 million bond issue to build a new bridge across the San Gabriel River which would connect Los Angeles with San Bernardino County and create jobs for locals as well as tourists coming to visitLos Angeles from Southern California The original bridge was completed in 1861 but it quickly deteriorated due to heavy rains that year and traffic tieups caused by floods that followed A new bridge was built using funds raised by an additional bond issue and finally opened on September 9th 1931 On May 8th 1928 Mayor John Pritchard dedicated LaVerne's first park - Don Cesar Chavez Park - which lies today adjacent to Interstate 605 just east of downtown LaVerne In 1934 Elmer Gantry developed what would become one of North America's largest shopping malls with over 1 million square feet (892 m²) of space inside two massive towers called "the Towers"

In 1795, after Mexico gained independence from Spain, la Cueva became the first Mexican citizen to be elected to the United States Congress. He later served as secretary at war under President George Washington and then Secretary of State under John Adams. In 1849, J.C. Dearborn organized what would become known as the City of LaVerne while still living in Bostonville; he had been inspired to do so by his visit there two years earlier to see how much progress Bostonville had made since his original settlement there twenty-five years earlier.* From this initial effort grew into one of Northern California’s most significant cities – both economically and socially – with over 150 residents by 1870.* By 1900, LaVerne had reached its peak population size with over 2,000 residents; however, it declined rapidly during World War II due to bombing raids which destroyed many homes and mills* However, despite these setbacks*, LaVerne has continued to grow vigorously since that time(* today it has an estimated population size exceeding 10,000).
