The company continued manufacturing firearms until 1942 when it was merged with Winchester Repeating Arms Company. In 1949, National Firearms Act made it illegal for civilians to possess any automatic weapons without prior registration with the government. This led to the closure of Winchester Repeating Arms Company’s armory and production of handguns stopped altogether in La Verne effective January 1st 1953. However, some pistols continued being produced at Winchester’s old facility until 1973 when it was closed down as well due to non-compliance with the new Gun Control Act of 1968 (GCA). At this time guns were still being manufactured using shotgun barrels instead of handguns barrel type which allowed them longer life spans but also caused Accuracy In Shooting (AIS) problems since they could not be fired accurately while chambered in other types of arms magazines like revolvers did not work reliably while loaded into an AR-15 rifle magazine during hunting trips or target shooting events because rounds would bounce off the receiver leaving accuracy compromised

The La Verne firearms history begins with the purchase of a shotgun in 1881 by George French. A rifle was purchased in 1882 and a pistol in 1886. In 1895, three handguns were bought: a revolver made by Adolphus Ives, which is still preserved at the Citizens National Bank Museum; an Italian-made gun known as the “Glockero”; and a Spanish-made gun known as the “Pistolero.” The Pistolero was used for target practice only and did not have an action like other handguns. It was unique in that it had two barrels that could be fired together from one hand, making it a double-action shooter. In 1903, La Verne became the first city in California to pass an ordinance regulating firearm possession and use within its limits. This law required owners of handguns to present them to local police when requested for inspection. In 1907, four more handguns were purchased: two pistols each from John Wesson Firearms Corporation of America and Winchester Repeating Arms Company; and a revolver made by Olin Gun Works Incorporated of Omaha, Nebraska. These guns were used primarily for personal protection measures such as home defense or self-defense while on vacation or business trips outside of LaVerne City Limits. In 1923, LaVerne handgun regulations were changed to allow carrying openly without permits until 1 p.m. The following year saw the addition of shotguns to the list of regulated items, bringing la verne's total number of firearms up to ten (10). On September 3, 1929, eight years afterLaVerne passed its ordinance regulating firearms possession and use within its limits (it had been passed December 12th 1922), another ordinance became effective providing for storageof unloaded firearms at all public places except course/college campuses between 6 p.m.–6 a.m., during school hours only if baskets or containers holding no more than 20 rounds per container are placed conspicuously on each curbside stop signposting indicating that these containers are reserved for storage purposes only ;and at night any person possessing any weapon(s) must place them away from children under age 16 who may come into contact with them . For many years after prohibition ended in 1934 (due largely to federal legislation),LaVerne continued to possess open carry license holders with valid Concealed Carry Licenses who parked their vehicles across town off I Street near Civic Center Drive during lunchtime ({Lunch hour}) just outside city limits until 2 p.m., then drove back inside {city limits}. This allowed people living inside city limits but using their vehicle parked outside citylimits during Lunch hour access either directly onto I Street {outside} or through downtown {downtown}, without having their car towed .This method proved difficult{to track} so police officers would commonly detain drivers suspected moonlighting as Carry permit holders

The La Verne area was first settled by Spanish colonists in the early 18th century. The area became a part of Mexican America after the Mexican-American War in 1848. In 1865, California was acquired by the United States as part of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo and it became a part of the new United States of America.
