Red dot sights, also known as target sights, are a type of sighting system used in firearms. Warrick, who operated a rifle manufacturing business in La Puente. In 1824, Captain John P. Richardson of the U.S. Marines set up shop in La Puente and began selling weapons using Red Dot sights. By 1827, Captain Richardson had outgrown his rifle manufacturing business and started a gunsmithing business called Richardson & Sons which manufactured firearms with red dots on them. By 1839, Richardson had moved his company to Pasadena and renamed it Richardsons Rifle Manufacturing Company after himself and his son-in-law Jesse Richardson (the father of Charles Wirt Richardson). In 1847, Mr. Richardson patented a design for an iron sights which he christened the Red Dot Sight - this design would later become known as the standard red dot sight system used today by various firearm manufacturers worldwide!
In 1867, Antonio La Puente, born in Spain and raised in California, became the first Mexican American to be elected to the United States Congress. He represented California's 3rd congressional district from 1923 until his death in 1943. Most importantly, La Puente helped lead the opposition against the U.S. entry into World War II and was instrumental in forming what is considered to be one of America's most effective anti-fascist movements. La Puente was also a passionate advocate for bilingual education and served as chair of the House Committee on Education and Labor from 1939 until his death. Born to a poor family on January 2, 1867, Antonio La Puente was inspired by his mother's stories of working hard during Spanish colonial times to achieve success in life. After completing high school at age 17 he began studying law at San Francisco Law College but soon realized that this career path would not lead him where he wanted to go. Inspired by José Huerta (who had been successful as an attorney) and others who had fought for social justice while living among Latinos outside of Los Angeles County, La Puentes decided he wanted to become an organizer instead of just a lawyer. In 1899 he founded The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). From 1905 until his death in 1943La Puente was its honorary president and led numerous protests and strikes against racist discrimination throughout America. As chairman of the House Committee on Education and Labor from 1939 until his death, Antonio La Puente played an important role in formulating laws that protected civil rights including bilingual education; providing healthcare opportunities for low-income Americans; outlawing segregation; creating job opportunities for Hispanics; increasing access to education through early childhood development programs; establishing affirmative action programs within government agencies; reducing poverty through housing development initiatives such as public housing projects ;and creating new markets for agricultural products with support from FDR

The first red dot sight was designed in 1984 by American inventor Dennis Day for use with his Taurus Model 9 revolver. This particular type of sight had a simple design with two circles that could be moved around to adjust your aiming point. In 1993, Browning released the Browning High Power model which featured an illuminated reticle on top of a metal housing that allowed you to see what your target was directly in front of you. This innovative feature allowed shooters to hit targets at long range without ever having to take their eyes off the weapon! By 2006, there were over 50 different models available on the market when Glock released its Glock 21 pistol with its new 6-dot system. In 1847, Mexican land grant 7 Rancho San Vicente was awarded to José María La Puente. The rancho comprised 8,500 acres and was located in present-day La Puente. In 1850, the US State of California acquired the remaining 1,000 acres from Mexico for $10 per acre. The first white person to live on the rancho was José Antonio Rivera in 1851. The following year, a school opened and in 1863 a post office was established at La Puente. A mill built on the property by John Sutter represents one of the earliest examples of a self-sufficient community in California. In 1875, an act of Congress designated portions of what is now Los Angeles County as part of the new state of California and made La Puente part of that county. As part of this changeover, la puente became known as “the most beautiful place in California” because it had long been considered one of the most inhospitable regions in that state. Throughout its history, La Puente has been home to a diverse population: farmers, ranchers, miners, actors/performers/writers/etc., many of whom have left their mark on its culture and economy through their work or residence hereabouts. Today’s residents are still heavily involved with local businesses and social organizations; however some changes have occurred since beltway construction began making it difficult for older residents to walk around town without feeling like they are being watched or photographed from high atop buildings (a phenomena locals refer to as “the city watch effect”).
In 1849, the town of La Puente was founded by the Spanish settlers in present-day California. The first post office was established in La Puente on April 12, 1850. In 1860, La Puente became a county seat. On November 15, 1874, it became an incorporated city.
