L.A. Puente, California is well known for its holster industry as it is home to the world's first holster company, Holster Manufacturing Company of America, founded in 1912 by two brothers, Harry and Sam Holster. The company produced holsters for a number of notable celebrities and politicians over the years including President John F Kennedy and actor Clint Eastwood. In 1984, Hollywood star Gene Hackman was actually shot with a revolver in a La Puente storefront while on location for his movie "Pulp Fiction". A large crowd had gathered outside of the store when the shooting happened and many people were outraged that an Actors Studio production could occur in such a dangerous location. Almost 20 years later, another high-profile shooting took place when real estate developer Dean Cain was gunned down outside his home in La Puente after being having dinner with some friends at a local restaurant. This event became known as the "La Puente Shooting" due to the high level of violence occurring within miles of Hollywood Boulevard in this small city during that time period

The La Puente holster history can be traced back to 1885, when Amos S. Butler opened a gunsmith shop in the small town of La Puente. The shop was located on Main Street and was open to the public. At that time, handguns were still considered taboo and were only available to government officials or those who had special permits. Butler soon became known for his high-quality holsters and began selling them directly to customers. His Holster Company was eventually purchased by John Browning in 1907. In 1912, Browning merged with several other companies and formed the Browning Firearms Corporation, which continued business as an independent company until it was acquired by Colt Industries in 1968.
La Puente, California is a small town in Los Angeles County, California. The population was 26,821 at the 2010 census. It is located on the eastern edge of the city of Los Angeles and is bordered by Compton to the north, Carson City to the east, Lynwood to the south-east and East Hollywood to the south-west. La Puente is named after Manuel Nieto de la Rúa y Valdivia y Peralta (1768–1848), who served as Governor of California from 1834 until his death in 1848. The first European settlers in what would become La Puente were Spaniards who arrived in 1776 and built a couple of adobe huts near present day Wilmington Avenue and Lankford Street. Spanish missionaries founded Mission San Gabriel Arcángel in 1784 on land that now includes part of downtown La Puente. In 1824 during Mexican rule, an act was passed that changed Rancho Santa Anita into land grant for José Gabriel Bautista Alvarado y Padilla alias “Pancho” which included present day La Puente. Hacienda Laguna de los Reyes (later known as Hacienda San Luis Rey) was established here by Agustín de la Luz with help from José Joaquín Bernal Emeterio Chua in 1865. In 1905 Juan Crisanto discovered oil reserves off Point Conception Peninsula and began production at El Toro Oil Field; this led to increased development around La Puente along with other nearby towns such as Carson City and Lynwood. However much earlier there had been reports about olive orchards just west of present day Lankford Road between Lankford Boulevard and Figueroa Street; these were later called the Chavez Orchard because they were home to Antonio Chavez, one of Mexico's leading landowners at that time who also owned vast tracts of ranchland across central Southern California including parts now within Los Angeles County including those now within La Puenta Township

Here are a few examples: 1) A leather belt holster is typically worn around the waist with a pistol or revolver tucked inside. The earliest handguns were pistols, so this type of holster was convenient and practical because it allowed you to carry your weapon close at hand. 2) The development of firearms led to the need for more comfortable carrying handles for handguns. This led to the development of shoulder harnesses which could be worn over clothing or an arm band (i.e., across the chest). These shoulder harnesses allowed you to carry your handgun in a more comfortable position without having it cluttered up on one side or other like a traditional holster would allow. 3) eventually, people started using gunstocks as holsters instead of just attaching handguns directly to their belts or arms (known as “slot-holster” Holster design). Gunstocks allowed you to wear multiple handguns at once while still being able to access them quickly and easily when needed. They also became popular because they permitted shooters to use their hands while wearing gloves so they didn’t pick up any fingerprints from their weapons!

In 1821, Mexican landowner Vicente La Puente bestowed upon his fellow Californio José Gabriel Marquez the town of La Puente. The small community quickly grew and prospered as a producer of wheat and other crops. In 1846, after Mexican independence was gained from Spain, the town’s governing body changed its name to California City in recognition of new formal boundaries between Mexico and the United States. The city's growth continued into the 20th century as it became an important transportation hub for goods coming down the California Coast and across the Bay Bridge. By World War II, La Puente had become one of America's most popular tourist destinations thanks to its beautiful architecture, vibrant culture, grassy streetscapes, dramatic views and engaging history. Today, La Puente is still a vibrant community with a rich cultural heritage that offers visitors unique experiences not found anywhere else in California.
The La Puente Adobe was built in 1868 by José María Cámpora and his wife, María del Carmen Baca. The Adobe became the home of the California Gold Rush Museum in 1951.
