It was also published by Juana Díaz Hurtado who continued to edit it until her death in 1896. In 1886, "Tribune" Magazine began publication in La Puente with a circulation of 30 issues per month which lasted until 1893 when it folded due to financial problems. However, several months later it reopened under new management with a new name- “Puerto Rico Review” which would last until 1903 when it too foldeddue to financial problems once again

Miguel Angel Ortega purchased 316 acres (122 hectares) east of Plaza de la Constitución in 1870 from Santiago Alvarez y Contreras; Adolpho Francisco Ortega took over this property two years later and developed it into Townsite Park; Enrique Jodorowsky bought 312 acres (122 hectares) west of townsite park from Alcalde Carlos Castilla about 1915; Joaquín Guadalupe Torres Canales acquired 114 acres (45 ha) northwestof townsite park from Enrique Jodorowsky about 1926; finally Andres Romeroacqua acquired 100+acre(40 ha) southeastof townsite park from Jorge Ramos about 1945.) Agrarian Settlement at La Puente began with cattle ranching operations started by José Ignacio Ortiz Sr., Augustiniano Arreguin Jr., Vicente Chavez Sr., Miguelangel Gomez distant relatives all involved together they leased 3200 acs.(20 hectare)= 50 head/acrerentry feedings since 1840 mid 1800's up until 1860 total 2500 head/acre ranches here go back even further tho no record found so Im guessing there must have been more than one group leaseing land here early on we will never know for sure but confirmed thru research that these people did own land here during that time period

The town was founded by José María de la Garza and his wife Hermíada and began growing rapidly after a grant from Governor Pico saved it from destruction in 1825. In 1829, the first post office was established in La Puente and by 1850, there were over 100 residents. In 1865-1867, Union troops burned down part of the town for lack of supplies as they advanced toward San Luis Obispo during the California Central Pacific Railroad strike. La Puente quickly rebuilt and continued to grow until its incorporation as a city in 1912. The population reached 235 by 1916; however, due to World War I and other factors the city’s population dwindled to around 100 by 1920. Rapid growth resumed following World War II with new development such as shopping malls, technology parks and factories; however, recent economic conditions have resulted in a decrease in population (which has slowly trended upward) since 2000.
