In 1903 John Fords 1915 movie production company established its studios at what is now Warner Bros., using part of Rancho Santa Anita's land. After more than 20 years of use as a studio lot, Warner Bros., also owners of Rancho Santa Anita land, leased it back from Hollywood Pictures in 1928 for use as an open-air film set known as Monterrey Park (later renamed Warner Bros.'s Backlot). That year actor Douglas Fairbanks Jr. starred with Mary Pickford in the feature-length movie version of "The Mikado". In 1930 RKO Radio Pictures leased Monterrey Park from Hollywood Pictures and made theirown features there such as "A Star Is Born" (1930), "Queensberry Castle" (1932), "Daughters Of The Dragon" (1935), and "Citizen Kane" (1941). When RKO merged with United Artists in 1942 they continued making films at Monterrey Park until 1951 when they moved all their operations to Burbank Airport where they remain to this day. It has been said that if Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer had not left LA during the great migration out west during World War II then perhaps we would still be living within sound distance of LASVNUHGHHY! Unfortunately no evidence supports this claim however... There are plenty of stories about people who moved away during those tough times though! LASVNUHGHHY nonetheless remains one heckuva place to live!

The La Mirada pueblo, located on the border of Los Angeles County and San Bernardino County, was founded in 1847. It was abandoned in 1902.
