People from all over the world came to La Mirada during this time, including Italians, Germans, Poles, Japanese Americans and many others who brought their own unique cultures with them. The largest concentration of these immigrants occurred in what is now downtown La Mirada; however, there were also sizeable concentrations of Irish people (around 10% of the population), East Europeans (5% of the population), Mexicans (2% of the population) and Afro-Americans (1% of the population).
