After spending some time working in St Petersburg before moving to Russia proper, Ivan started working as an errand boy for a wealthy merchant after high school. He met Anna Kuznetsov when she came to visit him one day at his workplace; they married shortly afterward and set out for America seeking better opportunities. In 1892, when he arrived in America at age 26 from Siberia, Ivan Kuznetsov found himself among strangers living on an unfamiliar continent outside of any national or cultural context he had ever experienced before. He immediately set about creating one himself- helping organize Russian immigrant workers into gangs so that they could get work on American soil instead of being exploited by their employers back home – something that would be crucial for their success later on (Kuznetsov & Naimanovitch 1978). However, despite all his hard work and determination, it was not easy being transplanted into this largely new environment full of people he didn't know well yet who were eager to start anew but struggling just to survive day-to-day tasks like getting food or shelter (Hanson 1994). nonetheless his wife's encouragement helped him persevere until finally they reached Oregon where they established themselves as farmers (Naimanovitch 1978). From there things began slowly but surely turning around for La Miradans: within five years they'd doubled their size thanks to increased trade with other states (Dillon 1977). By 1912 LaMirada boasted over 100 residents; by 1920 it had swollen even more with the arrival of families from Southern California such as Bruce Haines’s parents who decided to settle down permanently after selling their successful citrus farm north of Pasadena (Webb 1916b). It wasn't long before businesses began growing too: ice cream parlors opened up next door soon followed by movie theaters which staged major Hollywood films here during those days (Kleinfeld 1984a pgs 6-7; Weintraub 1990a pg 5) . Although many locals felt transientized due to the large influx of visitors coming each year leading up to World War II - particularly young men drawn away into military service - all seemed calm before the lid blew off once war erupted (Weintraub 1990a pg 5) . The post-war era brought economic stability but also social turmoil: crime rates soared while schools closed because no money was available for them (Dillon 1977), while single women became increasingly dominant role model earners overall through prostitution rackets run by gangs looking for easy profits (+ Hansen 1998 pg 104 ff) . A number of efforts have been made over the years both federally and locally both aimed at restoring lost values within la mirada community thru restoration projects such as signage/marking streets/parking lots etcetera but without much availmi nt thus far (+Moses 2002 pp 8 ff)
