After the war ended, there were fewer prosecutions of hard gun cases because people realized that it would be difficult to prosecute someone who had acquired their weapon without prior permission from the government. However, this did not mean that these cases stopped happening; instead they often went through different courts until they came to a resolution or someone was finally caught and convicted. As of 2019, there is still no definitive answer as to why this increase in crime rates has occurred since 1994 when these regulations were put into place

La Mesa, California is a small city in Kern County, California, United States. It is the county seat of Kern County and was founded on May 25, 1873 by George A. Smith and James S. Webb. The population was 16,819 at the 2010 census. La Mesa is located on the eastern edge of the Inland Empire region of Southern California. The community was named after Spanish Mission San Diego de Alcalá-Mendoza located in what is now Orange County,California. La Mesa was first occupied by Indigenous people who lived near present-day downtown La Mesa when it was established as part of Rancho Niguel property in 1853 by George A. Smith and James S Webb. The town began to form around 1860 when Wm Hite built a mill hereabouts and started to sell flour for goods such as candles and soap from his store next door at 8th & G Streets NW (now Dooley Road). In 1873, George A Smith purchased Rancho Niguel from Juan Bautista Alvarado and moved the mission's three hundred Mexican Catholic families into what would become La Mesa while he built new homes for himself and his family at an alternate site on Adobe Road east of town (now Old US 101). With over 20 residents including local schoolteachers Mrs Pierce & Miss Kingman used their classrooms in one end of Woolworth's grocery store on 5th Street NW before they were relocated to their current buildings after that store burned down in 1906; today’s Pico Hall School (built 1907) provides education for pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade students across two campuses – one inside Welch Elementary School (northwest corner), which opened in fall 2013 with a lab classroomnasium/library annex addition; also inside Welch are four tennis courts completed during 2006 renovation which served as home court for both boys varsity volleyball programs sponsored by PCHS until 2011; south side building currently houses high school football practice fields between Watts Gym - west side street frontage - 1st floor windows facing east 2nd floor windows facing south; north side building currently houses high school girls soccer practices between Watts Gym - east side street frontage - 1st floor windows facing west 2nd floor windowsfacing north
On July 24, 1843, La Mesa was founded by José María de la Cruz and his wife Julia. The town was named in honor of General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna, who had come to California in 1836 as part of the Mexican-American War. Santa Anna's forces had sacked La Mesa the previous year. The first post office opened in La Mesa on November 1, 1843. In 1850, the town became a county seat when it was organized from parts of Orange County. In 1907, it became a city and remains so today.
