The town site chosen for this endeavor was about six miles north-northwest of present day La Mesa on what is now Urine Road near the intersection of Highway 1A & Interstate 805 lies today's "Alvarado Heights". This town site would eventually become known as La Mesa after José María Peralta's purchase in 1892 which brought more settlers to this area and completed development around 1902 when he organized what would eventually become known as The Peraltas'.
