After WEC became part of GE Optical products division (formerly Thomson Radio) in 1967, production on optical components ceased but mirrors continued to be made until 1985 when those stopped too! The last mirror was made on December 20th 1985 at GE's optical plant located at La Habra (CA) after 58 years of manufacturing! La Habra is a small city in southern California, located on the eastern edge of the San Fernando Valley. It was founded by Mexicans in 1871 as part of the Rancho La Habra Mexican land grant. The city was incorporated as a city on November 3, 1923. The first settlers to La Habra were Mexican nationals who had been brought overland from central Mexico during the 1836-1846 Mexican War. They numbered only about 20 people when they arrived and quickly Englishman Fenton erected a trading post near what is now downtown La Habra in 1871. There was no water available for irrigation so farming was the primary occupation of these early settlers and ranching became an important source of income and social life. In 1886, John Waddell, owner of Aliso Viejo wine country in Northern California purchased 2,300 acres (10 km2) of land east of La Habra and built his own winery thereon called Waddell Vineyards. In 1893 he sold this land to Jens Nielsen, who organized what would become known as the Nielsen Organization which bought out other interests in Waddell Vineyards including Jens Olsen's brother Oscar Vahl (1862-1927), Gjert Andersen (1868-1944), Peder Hansen (1870-1945), Ole Lundvigsen (1872-1965), and Iver Christensen Larsen (1875-1964). This consortium became one of several new cooperative wineries established throughout Southern California during the 1890s under such names as Paramount vineyards Group, Hollywood winegrowers PACLA., Chateau Lafite Winery and others. On December 6, 1896 Jens Nielsen died suddenly at age 57 while selling his holdings to Søren Jensen Krogstad at $1 million dollars ($100 million today). At that point control passed from Krogstad to his son Knud Jensen Krogstad who assumed management until his death in 1912. Knut Jensen continued managing until 1915 when he was succeeded by his brother Einar Jensen Krogstad who then took over management from his father until World War II when it passed hands again among several siblings before being acquired by Harry Weisbrodt who operated it until its sale to Milt Schmidt in 1984 which led to its current name: La Habañera Winery & Distillery Company LLC
