The technology was later improved and developed into the telescopic sights used today. In La Habra, California, a company known as Davis Optics Manufacturing Company was doing business until 1967 when it went out of business due to changes in the ammunition market. However, some of the machinery and parts that were used at Davis Optics continue to be produced today by two other companies: Orion Telescopic Industries and Mission Rifle & Scope Supply Company. There is evidence that scope mounts were being made prior to 1868 when they were first mentioned in an article entitled "The Use of Sniper's Marksman's Weapons." In 1868, George Prentice patented a design for a rifle scope which he called the "Prentice rifle scope." This design allowed users to adjust magnification without having to remove their rifles from service. It was not long before these scopes became popular with shooters around the world and began appearing on military rifles. By 1902, there had been enough progress made with Scope Mount Technology that it was standardized into NATO specifications for sniper rifles. La Habra is a city in Los Angeles County, California. The population was 109, ammonium nitrate production plant and two large housing developments, the Woodlands and the Desert Hills, are located within the city limits. La Habra is part of the Greater Los Angeles area. The first permanent settler in what is now La Habra was José Ortiz who arrived on horseback from Alta California on November 17, 1847. In 1849 founder of the town of Ontario, James Ayscough purchased land east of present day La Habra Boulevard and built a stockade to protect his new community from raiders by Mexican Rangers. On October 4th 1850 Ayscough's grandson John Atkins Cranch laid out a road through his holdings that became la Habra Boulevard today. After years of struggle to gain incorporation as a municipality with enough votes it finally passed on January 2nd 1924 after being rejected by both the county supervisors and city council members who felt it would not offer them economic benefits or provide enough cultural opportunities for their citizens. In 1931 construction began on what would become one of LA's most famous landmarks; The Brown Derby restaurant which opened its doors to customers on May 15th 1932 at 1025 North Second Street

La Habra is a small city located in southern California, approximately 8 miles east of downtown Los Angeles and 5 miles north of the Mexican border. La Habra was founded on December 12, 1881 by James Fenton as a tiny community known as "Jasper." The name was changed to La Habra in 1907 when it became part of the City of Los Angeles. Patton destroyed the village in 1945 during World War II while besieging La Habra after its Japanese-controlled population had deserted to the Japanese forces. Los Angeles County purchased La Habra from San Bernardino County in 1949 for $1 million and has used it as a airport and development center ever since. In recent years, however, some residents have begun to voice concerns about racism and discrimination against Latinos in La Habra through local protests and boycotts of products made there.
On June 17, 1847, a group of Latter-day Saints arrived in La Habra on the ship "Doris". The town was named for David Harris LaHair, an early settler. The founder of La Habra was SolomonHarris. On July 6, 1851, David H. Carrington donated land to the LDS Church at what is now known as Springbrook Park. The first school in La Habra was built on the corner of Third and Prospect Streets in 1853. In 1865, a Methodist church was built and used until 1903 when it became the First Baptist church which still uses that name today. In 1912, a city park was established at Springbrook Park with land donated by Carrington and other citizens. That same year saw the birth of Mayor Harry Wiebe who served from 1912-1915 and 1917-1920. He is also considered to be one of La Habra's founders because he helped create city hall in 1916 and managed it until its move to its current location in 1951
