La Habra, California is a small town in the Inland Empire region of Southern California. The population was 9,711 at the 2010 census. La Habra is situated on the eastern border of Los Angeles County and it is bordered by Ontario to the north, Pasadena to the east, San Bernardino to the southeast, and Riverside to the south. The town was founded on November 3rd 1881 by James Wickersham as a small farming community named for his birthplace in London, England. The name "La Habra" means "the brow of hills." La Habra grew rapidly during its early years as agricultural workers arrived from various parts of Southern California looking for work in what was then an largely agricultural area. By 1915, La Habra had become one of Southern California's most important industrial centers due to its production of munitions and other military products. During World War II, La Habra played an important role in manufacturing ammunition for both American and Japanese troops. Many factories were set up within or adjacent to la Habra Ridge Park which straddles portions of Ontario and San Bernardino counties bordering LA County on its eastern side; these factories produced munitions such as high explosives and machine guns while also producing vehicles (such as tanks) and engines used in war industries like aircraft manufacturing. The park also hosted large gatherings of industry leaders who came together during wartime conferences called "Battleship talks" at which decisions were made about how best to fight Nazi Germany with resources available at that time. Following World War II, many companies left la Habra but others such as McDonnell Douglas built major facilities there including their original headquarters Building now known as Douglas Aircraft Corporation Tower which still stands today - largest office building ever built in southern California! Other major employers include Wells Fargo bank (now Wells Fargo Bank tower), Honda Motor Company (later Nissan/Renault Motors America), Lockheed Martin Missiles & Space Co., Cal Poly Pomona College (now Claremont Colleges) and numerous smaller businesses throughout those years until they too all closed down or relocated over time because of economic decline or changing technology trends like telecommunications!
On October 14, 1847, La Habra became the first town in California to be organized. The town was founded by José Antonio Nunez and was named for his father-in-law, Manuel Nieto.
