Kingsburg is a small town in Fresno County, California. The population was 7,818 at the 2010 census. Kingsburg was founded in 1868 by James W. Whipple and his wife Anna Maria King. It was named after George Armstrong Custer's hometown of Kingsbury, Virginia. The first post office in Kingsburg was established in 1870. In 1880, the town had a population of 375 people and it joined the United States as a territory on February 14, 1881. On November 6, 1885, Kingsburg became an incorporated city with a population of 910 people. In 1915, General John J Pershing ordered all American troops out of Mexico City because he perceived that Mexican forces were about to overthrow the government there and take over for Ulysses S Grant as Commander-in-Chief of the Union army The US military withdrew from Mexico City on September 15th 1915 and all American troops left Kingsburg on October 1st 1915 without giving any warning to the residents or taking any property with them Kingsburg experienced some difficulties during World War II due to its proximity to Japan On December 3rd 1941 Japanese Imperial Navy bombers bombed and destroyed part of downtown Kingsburg during Operation Coronet which led to the death of more than 30 citizens

Kingsburg was founded in 1887 by brothers John and Charles Kingsbury. The town name comes from a location named after George Armstrong Custer, who died during the Mexican–American War near here in 1846. The first post office in Kingsburg was established in 1890. A store and two hotels were built there in 1903 and 1907 respectively. In 1911, the U.S. Post Office moved to its present site south of the river across from Kingsburg High School. Kingsburg experienced significant growth over the years; by 2000 it had become one of the largest communities within Kern County with over 11,000 residents. In recent decades it has become known for its arts and crafts sector which includes several small businesses specializing in this field as well as its large number of artists living and working hereabouts full-time or part-time (the highest concentration any community outside of downtown Los Angeles has ever achieved). The Arts District of Kingsburg is home to several galleries, including Gallery 360° West (formerly called Regency Gallery), Artisan's Workshop Gallery & StudioSpace, BFA Fine Arts Center/New Beginnings gallery incubator, Ohana Contemporary art center/Artpace USA and local musician Joe Bonamassa's longtime recording studio homebase that he refers to as "the Valley".

Kingsburg, California is a small town located in Fresno County, California. The population was 2,521 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Fresno-Madera-Tehachapi metropolitan area. Kingsburg was founded on December 15, 1887 by George A. Smith and his brother James B. Smith. The brothers named their new settlement for King Arthur after their father's favorite horse and rider, King Arthur. George A. Smith served as the first postmaster of Kingsburg and also helped to found the First National Bank of Kingsburgh in 1888. The town experienced some success during its early years with several businesses established including a mercantile store operated by John C Gorman from 1892 to 1899; a wagon shop and buggy garage operated by Wm E Roper from 1898 until 1902; and an Agricultural Implement Works managed by Olin Fenton from 1903 to 1907 which produced hay bales, wagons, plows and other farm equipment. However, development in Kingsburg stalled after World War I when many farmers left to fight in the war or returned home too soon afterwards; however, this change did not last long as several new farms started up around Kingsburg throughout the 1920s and 1930s which continue to play an important role in local economic life today. In 1933 Kingsburg incorporated as a city under the name of West Fresno Municipal Utility District No 735 with a population of 584 residents (at least). The incorporation led to establishment of numerous civic services such as fire protection and parks/reservoir maintenance that were not available within county limits before then due to statutory limitations on city size at that time. In 1951 City Manager Harry J Sayers drafted plans for redevelopment of what had been once farmland into modern housing developments called OldWestDowntown which included demolition of most buildings within the original town center but preserved much historic architecture including Roberts Drugstore building (now known as Fishers Drugs), Gorman's Mercantile Store (now known as Gold's Hardware), Post Office Administration Building (now known as City Hall) & Schoolhouse (now known as Community Hall), among others – all while keeping much intact archaeological sites like Roberts Drugstore building which still stands today despite being vacant since 2001 Today Kingsburg is home to over 3,000 residents who rely upon various municipal services provided through its multiple departments including public works, water supply & infrastructure service, solid waste management & recycling program etc.; it also has several small businesses that provide essential day-to-day functions such as grocery stores, bakeries etc., making it one of largest cities within Fresno County without any major downtown areas - something that has given rise to recent speculation about possible annexation or even incorporation into larger municipalities nearby such as Visalia or Porterville pending approvals from both federal authorities and community activists alike
Kingsburg is a small town in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 2,829 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Greater Los Angeles Area. The town was founded in 1865 by Lovat and Margaret Kingsbury as a cattle ranch on Rancho San José de las Palmas De Cucamonga. The name change came about because Kingsbury's parents were from nearby Lancaster and their home county had the same name. In 1868, Kingsbury sold his land to John Sutter who built the Central Pacific Railroad between Stockton and Sacramento. In 1870, when Sutter built the first station there, he named it Kingsburg after his father-in-law, James Ketchum (1784-1871). Kingsburg grew rapidly during the 1880s due to its strategic location on both sides of the railroad tracks near two major water supplies - Kern River and Trinity River. By 1888, King's Ferry had been established as a trading post along both rivers with lumber and goods being shipped downriver to Southern California by steamer. In 1886, electric lights were brought to Kingsburg when they were installed along the Central Pacific Railroad between Stockton and Sacramento. At that time it was one of only a few towns in California without electricity! Kingsburg also became known for its hot chocolate which originated here in 1898! Today many businesses operate out of this popular tourist destination including a variety of restaurants including Chinese and Mexican food as well as clothing stores and other retail outlets
