The name "Kingsburg" comes from the nearby Kings Ranch salt mine. The first post office was established in 1882 and by 1909, Kingsburg had a population of over 100 people. In 1917, Kingsburg attained city status when it annexed neighboring Pachuca. During World War II, Kingsburg played an essential role in the war effort by providing housing for soldiers and their families who were stationed at Bakersfield or elsewhere within Kern County. After the war ended, many of these troops returned to their homes while others continued to live in Kingsburg until they moved away again during the late 1960s and early 1970s when racial segregation resumed throughout Kern County Today, Kingsburgh continues to be an important center for trade and industry with a population of around 2,500 people who work in various businesses including several hundred businesses that are involved in agriculture or natural resources such as ranching and logging. Several thousand residents also commute into Bakersfield each day for jobs within easy reach; this creates a close-knit community characterized by neighborliness and mutual respect .

Kingsburg is a small town in southern Kern County, California, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the San Joaquin Valley. Kingsburg was founded in 1887 by James Wintney and his brother-in-law, Hiram Heard. They named it for George Armstrong Custer, who had fought in the American Civil War and died at the Battle of Washita River in 1881. When Kingsburg became a ghost town on July 14, 1912, all inhabitants were forced to leave by order of Sheriff Edward Ayer. The first post office opened in Kingsburg on November 3, 1886. The name may come from its location on Kannapolis Creek which empties into Sacramento Bay near Stockton; or from its original land grant from the Board of Supervisors given to James Wintney and Hiram Heard by Governor Pomeroy as part of their Rancho San Bernardino property survey. In 1907–08 when water supplies became available through an underground pipeline brought overland from Kern County (now Fresno), Kingsburg began to grow rapidly due to agricultural production; farmers began using canals to transport water instead of wagon trains carrying water upriver every day! By 1916 there were 220 residents and 27 businesses; three years later that number had grown to 472 with 30 businesses and 362 residents. A new courthouse was built in 1922 while construction was still underway on the old courthouse across town which would have been finished if not for World War II when Central Valley farming stopped because of shortages caused by the war effort. In 1957 a new high school was built west of downtown along Harrison Avenue after voters approved bond money for that purpose via an election campaign promise made by then-Mayor Russell Pearce during his first term as Mayor (he would be reelected twice as mayor). That same year also saw the opening of Interstate 80 southbound within one mile (two kilometers) of downtown Kingsburg – perfect timing for development around this busy intersection! In 1951 a local gas station/convenience store opened across Harrison Avenue from what is now Kaiser Permanente Medical Center - providing excellent access to gasoline both before and after major medical procedures such as childbirths or operations! Over time more stores followed suit until today there are six convenience stores located inside or adjacent to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center alone! Today Kingsburg is known for its annual March Faire where arts & crafts are combined with foodie attractions including molecular gastronomy demonstrations & tasting events; live music throughout most days during Weekdays 10am-4pm & 7pm-12am Saturdays; parade once per month during late summer/early fall;and many other activities unique to our community
