The town has strong ties to the optical industry and its history can be traced back to 1869 when Cyrus McCormick and John Atchison opened a store in what is now the downtown area of Kingsburg. The town's first major business was an agricultural grocer which closed in 1917 after becoming known for its high quality produce. In 1938, King's Camera & Photo store opened on Main Street and soon became one of the most popular camera stores in the area. After years of growth, King's Camera & Photo closed in 1984 and current occupants are J&B Camera Inc.. Kingsburg is a small town in Tuolumne County, California, United States. The population was 2,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Sacramento–San Joaquin Valley Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1855 by George A. Smith and his wife Emma as a stagecoach stop on the Butterfield Overland Mail route between Sacramento and San Francisco. By 1865, Kingsburg had developed into an agricultural community with over 100 businesses including a grocery store, post office, blacksmith shop and four churches. In 1872, Kingsburg became the first incorporated municipality in Tuolumne County when it voted to secede from neighboring Yuba City. In 1892, King'sburgh's first school opened with grades 1-8 and continued operation until 1903 when it closed due to financial troubles. In 1922, Kingsburghs second school opened with grades 9-12 although it remained open only through 1927 because of funding shortfalls caused by World War I rationing regulations that limited enrollment at public schools in America during those years. During World War II, many residents of nearby Livermore fought for the United States military; some even rose to general ranks within their unit or branches of service while living in Kingsburgh. Many local businesses also took on wartime roles such as making munitions or supplying food for soldiers encampments located near their townsite (such as miles away at Livermore Air Force Base). After the war ended, many families returned to live in Kingsburgh but others continued moving around based on job opportunities or family needs across California during this time period known as "the postwar era." The population grew rapidly again following the Recession of 2007-2009 which hit rural areas hard particularly those located within commuting distance to larger urban areas like Sacramento and San Francisco; however despite this growth there has been no major redevelopment or reestablishment of downtown Kingsborough since its heyday during the 1920s-1930s; instead Nelson Mandela Boulevard has gradually become more commercialized becoming one of several high density arterial streets running through central Kingsborough flanked by highrise apartment buildings providing most people with access to employment directly rather than via downtown transportation hubs like State Street/Hwy 101 & Centerville Avenue which served primarily retail shoppers and workers going shopping Downtown for errands before getting back out onto Centerville Avenue for dinner etcetera

The town developed rapidly because of its location on the San Joaquin River, which made it a transportation and trade center. By 1865, Kingsburg had a population of 2,500 people. It became an agricultural village, with crops such as cotton, potatoes, eggs, dairy products and fruits being produced. In 1876, Kingsburg was renamed after General Ulysses S. Grant during his visit to California. After Grant's death in 1881, locals began to rename their villages after important public figures from America or Europe who had died in battle or other notable events. In 1916, Kingsburg became the capital of Fresno County when it was incorporated into that county. During World War II (1939-1945),Kingsburg played an important role as a military base due to its location on Highway 99W and its proximity to major supply depots and manufacturing plants across California
