Kingsburg, California is a small town in Kern County, California. It is located in the eastern Mojave Desert and is close to the Mexican border. The population of Kingsburg was 1,829 at the 2010 census. Kingsburg was founded by William H. Kingsbury in 1876 as a ranch town on the east side of what are now Joshua Tree National Park and Kingman Valley National Monument. He named his town after his nephew, also called William H., who had settled there in 1865. By 1890, however, Kingsburg's population had dwindled to just 10 residents because of its distance from other settlements and lack of resources. In 1902, Kingsburg was platted as a city by John Sutter and James Wickersham under the name Eureka. The first mayor was Leland Stanford Jr.. During World War II, many Kingsburgians served in the military or were employed in local businesses such as munitions production or post office work; some even managed to get drafted into service (e.g., Harry Truman). In 1945, when Californias war effort ended with atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, most citizens returned home but a few hundred remained behind including Mayor Leland Stanford III who continued to live in Eureka until his death there on January 15th 1957 aged 91 years old. The last resident died on October 4th 2009 at age 99 years old after an extended battle with cancer

Kingsburg has had a number of cultural icons over the years including Don Rickles as well as actor John Candy and comedian Chevy Chase who also lived in Kingsburg for many years before moving to Hollywood. Kingsburg is a small city in Los Angeles County, California, located east of downtown Los Angeles. The population was 54,711 at the 2010 census. It is included in theLos Angeles-Long Beach-Santa Ana Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settlement in Kingsburg was made by Father Pedro Crespo and his followers on December 12, 1847 when they arrived from Patagonia on horseback. The town name originated with José Arce who named it after King Carlos III of Spain's Rancho de la Luna y los Padres de la Nación (the Rancho Santa Anita). It wasn't until 1857 that the post office was established at what is now the corner of First and Third Streets. In 1871, Don Isidro Lopez opened the first mercantile business in Kingsburg. In 1865, Captain John Sutter founded the Union Pacific Railroad south of present day Kingsburg and this early railroad activity set off a local industry which continues to this day. A windmill was started by Geary & Company in 1868 and continued to be manufactured through World War II; however it ceased production during World War II because of lack of demand due to technological advances. Kingsburgh also saw an early development with electric lights being installed in 1897 as part of an expandable electrical grid initiative called "The Grid". On July 15th 1880, voters passed an ordinance establishing a city government for Kingsburg under mayor James Purdy and City Councilwoman Mrs Euphemia Poston with power over all aspects of municipal life including zoning ordinances; public works; taxation; streetlights; water service; garbage collection; fire protection etc., providing for primary/secondary school students living within city limits as well as night classes for other citizens outside of schools purposes only until High School graduation requirements had been met or such children were outgrowing their home surroundings before leaving for college or other activitiesoutside school boundaries without prior agreement from parents/guardians/teachers etc.. On November 3rd 1880 Mayor Purdy submitted his resignation effective immediately due to health reasons less than two months into his term having reached the age requirement set by statute for mayoral succession... Upon Mayor Purdy's departure powers reverted back to City Councilwoman Mrs Poston who continued governing as per charter excepting primary/secondary school students continuing within city limits subject to night classes provided their parents agreed thereto......... By 1902 there were 8 businesses operating inside and outside City Limits: 1 grocery store 2 hardware stores 3 dry goods stores 4 restauraunts 5 banks
