Kingsburg, California is a small town located in Kern County, California. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Bakersfield–Valley Center metropolitan area. Kingsburg was founded in 1887 by Julius and Anna Kingsbury as a small farming community on the east side of Kern River. In 1907, they sold their holdings to J.B. Smeaton and Company and renamed it Kingsburg-Smeaton after them. The post office operated from 1907 to 1951; the first postmaster was Augustus Halsey Kingsbury. A new post office opened in 1957, named for his father-in-law, James W. "Doc" Fenton Jr., who had served as mayor of Bakersfield from 1916 to 1922 under Governor Lowenstein. Kingsburg is located at (36.549822, -1190488). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , all of it land. Kern River forms much of the eastern border of Kingsburg and flows through it on its way to join the San Joaquin River just north of Bakersfield proper. The climate in this area can be classified into two categories: hot desert climates and warm Mediterranean climates according to Köppen climate Classification System: "Csb". Kingsburg falls within both categories according to recent data from NRD International: "Despite having several microclimates that vary greatly across seasons or year-round averages due largely to altitude differences (the coolest season typically occurs near sea level), Kingsburgh experiences highs around 100 degrees Fahrenheit during summer months with lows well below 40 degrees Celsius (~4 degrees Fahrenheit) during winter months." This makes it one of only three places in Kern County where temperatures over 100°F are common occurrences year round! The other two are Atascadero and Tecopa City which have similar average monthly temperatures but fall outside Köppen's cold desert range (i median temperature there usually ranges between 106°F/27°C and 115°F/45°C). Despite its wide latitude range however,Kingsburgh does experience some very severe cold snaps such as January 2006 (-15°F/-24°C), December 2007 (−34·2°F/-27·6·4·7CMiles), February 2008 (−37·8°F/+25·1chard vehicular traffic stopped less than 24 hours after starting):" Kingsborough also experiences pretty impressive precipitation totals with an annual rainfall rate above 12 inches most years along with measurable snowfalls occurring on occasion throughout winter even up into early spring depending on prevailing winds relativeto local climate conditions making street cleaning difficult or impossible without heavy equipment." With so much rain fall though majority resides within Tornado Alley prone areas like Southern Kern County you would think that water resources would become an issue but no... not really... although occasional overflows do occur when creek beds become overwhelmed leading to flooding issues especially during extreme drought years"... actually quite common occurrence during these extremely dry periods!" Overall though I think they take careof themselves adequately considering their location!" This high overall precipitation rate along with close proximity (>30 miles)to major rivers &&&&&&&&&&( South Central California Coast Ranges)), combined with ample rainfall potential &&&&&( caused more grass fires rather then any major problems)... resulted in plenty enough water remaining available for street cleanups (&&&&');)"

Kingsburg is a small town in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 3,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Bakersfield metropolitan area. The townsite that would become Kingsburg was first settled by Native Americans in 1847. The name comes from the Spanish word "californio," meaning "place of the Californios." In 1851, Dr. John Sutter founded Sutter's Mill here and named it after his friend, Sir George Walton, 2nd Baronet., who had helped him purchase land in Alameda County for himself and his family. In 1853, King's Valley Railroad was inaugurated to transport goods from Southern California to Bakersfield; Kingsburg became its terminus. Kingsburg experienced heavy growth during World War II due to the presence of Kaiser Aluminum Company (KAL) and other businesses here. KAL produced munitions and other military hardware for both allies and Axis powers during World War II; many of these products are still extant today in various forms including sculpture and cars. In 1951, local businessman Earl Warren decided to move his business headquarters from Oakland to Kingsburg because he felt that Bakersfield lacked a strong downtown business district. He financed construction of what would eventually be called Warren Drive (later renamed Wallace Street). Today, this corridor remains one of the most important commercial streets in Kingsburg with numerous restaurants and stores lining it on both sides! A post office opened at Kingsburg on July 11, 1850; it served as an outpost until 1875 when mail service began via stagecoach service between Bakersfield and Sacramento via Stockton (then known as Chabotville). The post office closed on October 15th 1960 after 88 years serving residents therein! After being vacant for over 10 years USPS abandonment proceedings were filed on December 12th 2013 but no action has been taken since then... likely because there is no market demand for a new USPS location in this rural community!
