Kingsburg is a small town in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. Kingsburg is located east of Bakersfield on the southern edge of the Kern Mountains. Kingsburg was founded in 1879 by brothers Amos and Solomon Kingsbury. The townsite was patented to them in 1887, and they named it for themselves although no clear connection can be found between their parents and either Kingbury or Kingsbury itself. A post office was established in Kingsburg on December 3, 1888, and remained open until it was discontinued in 1907. The first store in Kingsburg opened its doors on October 6, 1889. The first restaurant opened its doors on November 10 of that year. In 1890, a school was built which served as the nucleus for what would become both the present day high school and later community college district now known as Kern Community College District No. 2 (the basis for KCCD No..3). A sawmill started up soon after and increased production which led to an increase in business around town with new stores opening up all along the way including a clothing store (now closed), hardware store (closed), bakery (closed), milk house (now used as a garage), doctor’s office (now closed), blacksmith shop (closed) – really any type of business that could handle some traffic during those days before internet marketing had really taken off! In 1903-1904 an electric company went into operation providing power to most businesses within town limits; this also allowed for banking services too! In 1912 there were two schools: one public grade school serving grades 7-12 with room for 50 students while another private grade school serving grades 1-8 with space for 30 students; this second school still serves today as part of KCCD No.#2! Weimar Estates got their start back then too but stopped operations after only a few years due to lack of interest from residents & developers alike…..further development stalled until World War II when things picked up again….then came 1960s / 1970s…..and we are currently living through some pretty big changes lately…….?

In 1865, American Arms merged with George Dixon's Colt Firearms Manufacturing Company to form Colt Firearms Corporation. This company was responsible for developing the world's first self-loading rifle, the Model 1866 Springfield Rifle. It was also responsible for producing many of America's most popular arms including the Winchester Repeating Rifle and both World Wars' fighter aircrafts – the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress and Lockheed P-38 Lightning respectively. During World War II, Colt Firearms Corporation produced over 1 million firearms components – more than any other firm. In 1945, as part of its postwar reorganization, Colt Firearms Corporation became known as Colt Defense Industries Incorporated (CODI). This company continued to produce arms throughout the Cold War era until it was sold to Beretta AG in 1998. The dam also created Kingsburg Lake which is used for recreational purposes today. Kingsburg is home to several schools including King's Valley High School and Kern Community College. It also has a small grocery store and two churches, both of which are dedicated to Christianity. There are also several businesses located within walking distance of the town center such as hardware stores, restaurants, cafes, and a library.
