In King City, California, the history of guns and gun parts goes back to 1852. There were twogun shops in town at that time - one called the Gunsmith and the other called The Pistolero. Both businesses sold pistols and rifles. In 1854, John Waddell opened a store called The Pistolero & Rifle Emporium which was located on Main Street. He started selling guns from his shop and also from his home. His business was successful and he became known as "The Father of California's Firearms Industry." In 1859, Geo. Hinkleopened a store on Second Streets named the Globe Gun Store which was also successful. From 1865-1868, Charles Goodrich operated a store on Fourth Street which belonged to Joeseph Larkin. Goodrich started selling firearms from his house and store until he closed it down due to financial problems in 1870. From 1872-1875, George Leeman operating a grocery store on Third Street sold firearms until he closed it down due to financial problems in 1876. In 1877, Auldie Burkholder opened a store on First Street which was later renamed Burkholder & Sons Gun Shop (later Burkholder Sporting Goods). He continued selling handguns until he closed it down in 1893 due to health reasons. In 1897, William Folsom opened a hardware store on First Street which became known as The Folsom Arms Exchange (FAE) because its owner purchased most of the firearms used by law enforcement in San Francisco Bay Area during this time period. In 1902-1903, Willis Colt began selling ammunition at his hardware store on First Street until he moved out of business because of prohibition laws enacted by US Congress in 1903 (the first such ban nationwide). After Colt's death in 1904, sales at Folsom Arms Exchange stopped because there were no more buyers for Colt's products after prohibition ended nationally six years later! During prohibition era firearm sales were outlawed throughout America except for those conducted through licensed dealerships with special permits issued by state governments subject to strict regulation including requirements that all customers must be citizens or legal residents who had taken an oath or affirmation not to use arms against their fellow citizens without express consent of government officials. This meant that both civilians and law enforcement could not lawfully purchaseguns without prior permission from local authorities who had complete control over how these weapons could be used within their jurisdiction...thus creating an important role for gun parts companies like Brownells Incorporated! Brownells Incorporated was founded in 1911 by Harry Brownell who Initially operations out of his father's old pawnshop located at 7th Avenue And Mission Streets in San Francisco during World War I when demand for military surplus weapons grew rapidly following America's entry into war against Germany Mr Brownells soon realized that there would be huge demand for new types of rifle sights and grips specifically designed for Law Enforcement Use which led him teaming up with some key friends including Bob Kappes(a former inspector with San Francisco Police Department)to form what would become Brownells Precision Machining Co., Ltd.(BPMC)in 1916.) BPMC produced precision rifle sights and grips originally destined only for Law Enforcement but quickly found itself producing virtually any type of firearm sight or grip desirable by law enforcement agents around the countryincluding handguns such as revolversand shotgunssuch as pump action shotgunsand even machineguns!! It wasn't long before othercomponent manufacturers followed suit producing similar items under various brand names such as Riflescope(RSC),Gripco(GP),Barrel Nutting Machine Corp.(BNMC),Triggerman Manufacturing Co.(TMP),Pistol Grip Corporation(PGC), etc....... All leadingedgemanufacturers supplying components needed directly to produce finished firearms including trigger housings spring guide rods bearings bushes etc...... TodayBrownells still manufactures nearly everything necessary directlytoproduce qualityfinishedfirearms including triggers housings spring guide rods bearings bushes etc..........except sniper rifles!!

It was renamed from Indian Wells on February 22, 1886. The first mayor of King City was John W. Fenton. The city was incorporated on January 3, 1914 and by 1920 had a population of 20,878 people. On November 16, 1941 the Japanese bombs destroyed most of downtown King City with an estimated death toll of ninety-seven people including twenty-one children under the age of five who perished within minutes at Hiroshima University School; this event is still commemorated by the city with a special festival each year called "Hiroshima Day" which includes programs and activities related to education and peacekeeping
